November 10, 200520 yr Hey-- Does anyone know of a place where I can pick up some cheap, bootleg Sox championship gear? I saw a few guys selling shirts for $5 outside Union Station (at Jackson and the river) last week, but they're gone now. there is one guy who sells "official" stuff at Adams and the river, but he wants $20 for a hat... Help - I need to do some Xmas shopping and have limited funds
November 10, 200520 yr Try target, sportsmart, etc. A lot of times they'll have sales on that sort of stuff.
November 10, 200520 yr QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 10:37 PM) I think Nambla has some for sale. Their clothes are too small. I think they only make clothes for little kids for some reason.

November 10, 200520 yr QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 02:47 PM) f***ING MORONS..protect the ball. He's finally lost it. I knew this day would come.
November 10, 200520 yr QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 09:41 PM) I don't even know what Nambla is. Weird.
November 10, 200520 yr QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 10:48 PM) Weird. I know, my sources say otherwise.
November 10, 200520 yr QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) Sam's Club. K-Mart. Food-4-Less. They are selling non MLB stuff..? I'm thinking he means the stuff that they sell outside the park? And what's Food-4-Less? (besides the obvious, LOL) I've never heard of it.

Help - I need to do some Xmas shopping and have limited funds I have seen people every day at Madison and Wacker...including yesterday. They're right before the bridge. I saw a sign there for 5.00 hats.
November 10, 200520 yr If in the Western Suburbs, on Manheim just south of O'Hare there is a stand every two blocks or so.
November 10, 200520 yr 83rd & Cicero, the stand is still up, with "SALE!" signs on it, so I'm assuming they won't be there much longer.
November 10, 200520 yr QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 10:23 AM) 83rd & Cicero, the stand is still up, with "SALE!" signs on it, so I'm assuming they won't be there much longer. I stopped at that stand Friday before WS Game 1 and was blown away by how much the guy wanted for the knockoff crap. He had some authentic ALCS stuff as well, but it was more expensive from him than it was a couple blocks down the road at Sports Authority.
November 10, 200520 yr I don't know where you live, but I saw a few guys on the street at intersections on the southside that were selling stuff. This was 2 weeks ago and honestly, it was only slightly less than the pricing at Grandstand and at the Cell gift shop.
November 10, 200520 yr QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 10:32 AM) I stopped at that stand Friday before WS Game 1 and was blown away by how much the guy wanted for the knockoff crap. He had some authentic ALCS stuff as well, but it was more expensive from him than it was a couple blocks down the road at Sports Authority. I'm not surprised at all. I never stopped there myself. Call me old-fashioned, or just old, but I like to have someplace to take the stuff back to if it falls apart on me after the first wash or whatever. I went to Sports Authority for my WS gear, and I paid a fair price. I know Kohl's knocked the price down on the stuff they still have in stock.
November 10, 200520 yr Author Thanks for all the suggestion... I'll check out Madison and Wacker today, since its only a few blocks from my Ivory Tower. I'll drive up Manheim tomorrow... If all else fails, there is a Food-4-Less about 20 minutes from me. About 2 weeks ago, I saw a guy selling bootleg Sox stuff out of the trucnk of his car in the parking lot just west of the track on 35th street (west of Sox Park, east of The Grandstand). I wonder if he's still around?
November 10, 200520 yr What do you mean by "bootleg"...? Official MLB stuff that fell off a truck...? Or shirts printed on cheap t-shirts not MLB licensed..? If you mean the former.. there is a little burger stand next to jimbo's.. they had official stuff there for less then the park during the WS. If you're driving in that area maybe take a look there.
November 10, 200520 yr Author I've had good luck with the non-MLB stuff. My gear form the 1983 AL West Championship is still goin strong...
November 10, 200520 yr QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 09:06 AM) They are selling non MLB stuff..? I'm thinking he means the stuff that they sell outside the park? And what's Food-4-Less? (besides the obvious, LOL) I've never heard of it. It's officially licensed, but why pay the same price or a comparable price for unlicensed products? Bootleggers, especially those close to Comiskey, sell their cheap (quality-wise) stuff for prices comparable to better merchandise you can buy at the places I listed. The stuff I saw being sold outside of the park during playoff games were certainly not worth the price. Food-4-Less is a grocery store, similar to Aldi. There's a couple on the South Side.
November 10, 200520 yr Author I highly doubt the officially liscensed MLB stuff is going for like $5 for a shirt or $5 for a cap... - 4 for $15... If so, please let me know where...
