November 23, 200520 yr QUOTE(JimH @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) Me too, hey Rock, I got one hunch right wouldn't you say? Who do they trade to Florida for Juan?
November 23, 200520 yr QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) This signals big changes. Those who complained that the offense was weak last year should not be b****ing right now. With Pierre and Thome over Rowand and Everett, we will improve. I agree 100%
November 23, 200520 yr QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) Who do they trade to Florida for Juan? It would have to be BA. They're gonna want BMac but they're not gonna get him.
November 23, 200520 yr QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) Who do they trade to Florida for Juan? If the Delgado trade is the standard, probably not much.
November 23, 200520 yr QUOTE(Purdue1906 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) Ok, someone tell me who plays where between Konerko (if he reups) and Thome? I'm happy, but sad, b/c Rowand was a hell of a CF. Good luck to him. 1B - Konerko DH - Thome
November 23, 200520 yr QUOTE(Purdue1906 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) Ok, someone tell me who plays where between Konerko (if he reups) and Thome? I'm happy, but sad, b/c Rowand was a hell of a CF. Good luck to him. Konerko is a far superior defender at 1B to Thome, from what I have seen. Thome would be DH, and spot at 1B when PK is off.
November 23, 200520 yr QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:54 PM) It would have to be BA. They're gonna want BMac but they're not gonna get him. Pierre is also only a year away from FA. I do not think it will be BA, BMAC, Young, or Owens. I suspect Marte and a prospect. But hell, I'm no Bruce Levine.
November 23, 200520 yr Who do they trade to Florida for Juan? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Marte plus somebody cheap.
November 23, 200520 yr QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) Konerko is a far superior defender at 1B to Thome, from what I have seen. Thome would be DH, and spot at 1B when PK is off. Wait so if Konerko comes back that means that Timo and Pablo don't have to play first base if Paulie gets the day off?
November 23, 200520 yr Whether or not one agrees with this trade, you have to admire Kenny Williams' guts. Talk about a guy who doesn't sit on his laurels, wow.
November 23, 200520 yr ESPN reports that the deal will be official pending a physical later in the week. KW: "Hey Jim. Can you come to Chicago tommorrow?" Hopefully it is not the same Dr. that said Sirotka was ok.
November 23, 200520 yr http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2234843 Updated: Nov. 23, 2005, 3:47 PM ET White Sox to deal Rowand for Phillies' Thome The Philadelphia Phillies have agreed to trade first baseman Jim Thome to the Chicago White Sox for center fielder Aaron Rowand. The deal, confirmed by the Phillies, is expected to include major cash considerations due to the size of Thome's contract, ESPN.com's Buster Olney reported. The deal is dependent on players passing physicals. Thome, 35, is due about $12.5 million in 2006 and $14 million in each of the final two seasons of his six-year contract. The Phillies have a club option for 2009, and he has a no-trade clause. The four-time All-Star hit .207 with seven homers and 30 RBI in 59 games this year before having season-ending surgery on his right elbow in August. Thome has 430 homers since making his major-league debut in 1991. Rowand, 28, set career highs in 2004 by hitting .310 with 38 doubles, 24 homers and 69 RBI. He became eligible for salary arbitration for the first time after making $340,000 in 2004, and signed a new contract with the White Sox in January. He earned $2 million in 2005 and is expected to receive $3.25 million in 2006. Chicago has a club option for 2007 at $5 million and Rowand holds a player option for 2007 at $3.25 million.
November 23, 200520 yr QUOTE(Sox1422 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) I'm sick of the chemistry BS. Winning produces good chemistry. Not to mention Ozzie Guillen does his part. I like the deal. And who is to say Thome won't fit in just fine? .270, 13 HRs, and 69 RBI with an OPS of .736 is not untouchable guys. Everyone on this years squad has a place in my heart, but it is a business.
November 23, 200520 yr If we trade Marte and a spect for Pierre. I'll f***ing dance a very happy dance. I don't like Pierre as a 2 hole hitter but I like BA even less.
November 23, 200520 yr Dan Haigwood is on his way to Philly. Along with possibly Gio holy s***. We are giving up a s***load of talet. Edited November 23, 200520 yr by Kalapse
November 23, 200520 yr Only thing I don't like about getting Pierre to play CF is his arm...between Him and Pods noodle arms people will be running all day.....
November 23, 200520 yr I would think it will be Marte and a low level prospect for Pierre His arm is suspect, but him and Pods will control the gaps Edited November 23, 200520 yr by Soxman72
November 23, 200520 yr QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) Dan Haigwood is on his way to Philly. Along with possibly Gio holy s***. We are giving up a s***load of talet. Gio? This deal sucks then.
November 23, 200520 yr QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 09:00 PM) Gio Gonzalez and Daniel Haigwood are the two prospects in the deal. ... Why?
