Help save the Florida Marlins!

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone!

As all of you probably know the Florida Marlins are threatening to relocate to another city. Us die hard Marlin fans are getting together and running a campaign to help the Marlins stay in Florida. We love this team so much and it will break our hearts if they leave the state of Florida. We would love to have your help and support.

Here are a few websites:

We need you help and support. We would do the same if you were in our situation. Thanks :)

No offense or anything but Miami does not deserve a major league baseball team. If Marlins fans can't support a team that's won 2 world series over a 6 year span then the Marlins should be moved out of there. Maybe they can find a fan base that will support a winning organization.

while saying that, you know there are a few thousand die hard marlins fans that are just as big of fans of their team as we are. Everyone in the country seems to think chicago can't support 2 baseball teams, but we know how many white sox fans there really are. Weren't we in their shoes a few years back?

No, not really. The Sox hadn't won anything in a long ass time leading up to '05 season yet we still drew decent numbers. The Marlins have won 2 world series in a 6 year span and still can't draw. If people won't come out to see a winning team, then the club should be moved.

Exactly.. Why do the die hard Marlin fans have to suffer because of the "other fans"? I watch EVERY game on t.v, I have 20 game season tix plan etc: I dont know what I would do without the Marlins in my life.

It rains in the summer in Florida pretty much every day. If we get a dome on the stadium we wont have to worry about that anymore. I know I skipped many games because there was horrible weather down south. I am not driving over 1 hour to find out the game is cancelled. Also our attendance has been slowly increasing, we need to build up the fan base. The Marlins have only been here since 93' building die hard fans take time. Give the die hard Marlin fans some credit for once.

I think we owe Marlins fans something for 2003. Something besides the bronze statue of Steve Bartman in CF.

I'll do this for the Marlin fans. Plus those at marlinsbaseball.com sent me an e-mail wishing me a Happy Thanksgiving.

Florida Marlins

Every White Sox fan's 2nd favorite team.

(However, I'll still be willing to take Juan Pierre off you shall the fire sale continue :) )

2 championships in 10 years and you have the lowest 5 in attendance.

Sorry, this one is on your city.

I think we owe it to Marlins fans to contribute just for 2003.

And yes we were in a similar position to them in the late 80's when we almost ended up becoming Tampa's first MLB team. Then the Cell was approved for construction by ONE VOTE and the rest is history.

I can't believe I'm seeing Sox fans use the "attendence = you deserve to lose your team" argument. What hypocrisy.

I agree with those who have spoken in favor of the Fighting Fish.

It's different when you're team wins championships consistantly as opposed to not supporting a losing team.

miami cant even sell out dolphins games, so how can they sell out baseball, the problem with this is i dont know where they would move to.

i really can't believe i am agreeing with kalapse on this one. granted the attendance was brutal, but us die hard fans kept the pressure and kept on demanding more from the owners. finally when we won the series and it looks as the turn around is about to happen, it prove what we kept on saying. put the winner on the field and things will be different.

they won 2 series in a short time and still no attendance??? i only hope for a second series in 6 yrs and yes you will see my fat ass doing cartwheels.

I know your prob a very loyal fan even tampa bay has some loyal fans. But its pretty obvious that most of Florida and Miami dont really care about the Marlins. It really is un-excusable to not be able to have even a middle of the pack attendence after winning 2 WS so recently.

If you guys were even in the teens id might spend some time trying to support you but your not even that high.

vegas

When a team starts off

The only thing you can wish for is a winning couple of seasons to get your fanbase going.

Marlins did that, it didnt work, what makes you think any otehr thing possible could get the marlins fan base going?

I agree with kalapse and them.

vegas

vegas would work for about two years max and then the novelty would wear off, they will not have a core fanbase, it would basically be a sideshow for whoever is visitng to see a baseball game. mlb just has to face the fact that they expanded to cities who can't support an mlb franchise and the best bet is probably to just leave the marlins in florida, even if cities like charlotte, vegas, and portland don't have teams, it would be the same show as florida.

I think MLB should seriously consider of getting rid of a couple of teams....Or try something different completely like when the Expos played in San Juan or wherever it was.

Vegas would sell tickets like crazy from all of the Casinos buying them up to give as gifts/comps to their highest rollers. Doesn't mean that they'd be a great place for a team, but they'd have an audience, I'm sure of that.

Anywho...I wonder how Florida would draw if they actually were in a decent stadium. Think Cleveland before the Jake.
