Chizik's recruiting a better breed, or at least has a better repore with recruits than Mac ever had.

Gordon's game is simply this: Back off him and he's one helluva shooter. Get right on him and he either blows past you or just muscles his way past. I can see him averaging 8-10 FT attempts per game next year.

juco safety donsay hardeman verbaled to illinois today. hardeman is a four-star recruit and considered the top juco safety prospect. he was the 11th-ranked prospect in florida coming out of high school and choose illinois over miami and florida.

Heh. This is fun.

That's just idiotic! Even if the kid was blown away by USC (what 8th grader wouldn't be?), and he truly wants to go there, why publicize it now? What good does "committing" publicly as an 8th grader do? This one falls on the parents as much or more than anybody else.

really, colleges should wait until these kids are atleast in highschool.

Don't look now but ND appears to be heading for another top 5 calibur recruiting class. They already have 14 commitments including 8 - 4 star recruits and 1 - 5 star recruit. Rumor is that they will likely get a commitment from 4 star safety Blanton today as well. With that said, the most important aspect of this early success is ND's ability to fill their needs on defense, especially areas of weakness. ND's two biggest weaknesses heading into this recruiting season were - DT and LB. ND already has 4 DT(1-2 might be moved to DE in the new 3-4 system) including 2 - 4 star DT, and 3 LB including 2 - 4 star LB. Add Blanton to the mix and ND appears to be matching the talent they receive on offense. The addition of Brown as DC is already having a drastic effect on defensive recruiting. ND still hasn't landed that difference maker(5 star recruit) on defense, but loading up on 4 star recruits to complement the difference maker type recruits on offense and ND will be in the title hunt possible as early as the 2008/2009 season.

This is something that the NCAA should crack down on. No commitments until you're a junior. I mean, what's the damn point. If the kids want to visit a school, fine, on their own time and dime. I really don't get the Kansas love, the campus is pretty bad from what I hear. Self will butter up player no doubt, but that is recruiting. Still think Illinois is fine and I wasn't counting on Liggins anyway. I am very confident in Humphrey and Dunigan. And then you get one more of Shumpert or Suggs and its a top 15 class.

i can understand why some kids would go to kansas. like them or not, they have a great tradition, play in one of college basketball's storied venues, and have always attracted top-tier players. and although lawrence probably isn't charlottesville when it comes to quality, it's isn't any worse than many, many campuses.

 

but in general i agree. although i like liggins quite a bit there hasn't been any encouraging news on him throughout this process. it does place added pressure on getting a guy like shumpert or suggs, though.

I doubt we get a 5-star recruit, but it looks like it will the deepest class in awhile. We could get 10 4-star recruits and that is including Nate Palmer who I believe will be moved up based on his performace this season. He was injured last year and still had some good numbers. BTW, I hope we get Glenn Foster cause he is a beast.

KU, huge TV contracts, storied tradition, tons of current nba players, ALLEN FIELDHOUSE, oh and lawrence is a wonderul campus,......i think your kansas hate should be over now, since Illinois is going to be subpar for many many many years with coach BAM.

We'll find out Wednesday or Thursday for sure. This is shapping up to be a great class. Nigel Bridham and Vince Williams are working their asses off as being recruiters themselves. Hopefully if we get EJ, Deion Walker will follow.
