Rex should retire from NFL football.

Recommended Posts

Rex should really retire from NFL football. He is not good enough to be an NFL QB and we see that with his inactivity in the NFL so far. He has started only 6 regular season games in 3 years. He has even lost his starting job to the lowly pathetic Kyle Orton. He has no future in the NFL and should head to NFL Europe or the CFL before his stock falls too low they dont want him.

Umm...he got injured. He didn't lose his job, in fact he got it back when he was healthy.

Why 8 year olds should not be allowed on their parent's computers!

I know he was injured but even when he was ready after several weeks of practice and reps to be starter again, he only started 2 of 5 games including his playoff start. Orton started 2, with Rex coming in on 1 of them, then Rex 1, then Orton 1, then the playoff game Rex started. So he started the minority of the games even when he was ready to start again according to the coaches. Plus he only got to start since Orton lost the job with a horrable game and a half.

Plus the GM has basicaly gauranteed Orton is the starting QB next year in a recent interview, so the writing is on the wall. Rex has never been a starting QB in the NFL and never will be, his stock is high enough right now he should bite the bullet and become a starting regular in another top league like the CFL or NFL Europe rather than drop to a #3 or #4 QB in a few years in the NFL, wishing he had done something else.

Is Rex Grossman definitively the Bears' starting quarterback or will there be an open competition between Rex and Kyle Orton for the No. 1 job next summer in training camp?

Michael M.

Washington, Illinois

I would see Rex going into training camp as our starting quarterback as the way he finished the season. Saying that, I believe the playtime and expertise Kyle gained this past season will bode well for him going into training camp. Most players make their biggest stride in years two and three. With that, we feel there will be competition, knowing the competitive nature of both players.

Um...Where does he guarantee the job to Orton?!?

So you basically thought Rex was healthy enough before the Steelers game because he was practicing, right? Thats pretty piss poor analysis and Im glad guys like you dont determine when players come back. Rex broke his ankle, you dont just jump off the bench to play after it heals. What coaches declared him ready to play yet didnt send him out to play in 3 of the last 5 games?

Do you have any proof whatsoever about any of your claims or assertions, or are you just talking outta your ass?

Read it more closely. He says Rex is starting QB going into training camp, NOT going into the regular season. First sign. Secondly he talks about how much Orton will improve in his 2nd or 3rd years. Second sign. He refers to how much the experience of playing a year will benefit Kyle, etc......It is very easy to see where this is all headed.

So yes Kyle is definitely the starter next year, and Rex should get out of the NFL as fast as possable, since he is currently in a place there is atleast a mirage he would have been an NFL starting QB at some point without his injuries, if he stays he will only be seen losing the starting QB job to one of the worst starting QBs in the World and his stock will gradualy fall so low even the CFL and NFL Europe wont pay him as much, or want him as a starter as much.

Sure looks like he handed the job over to Orton to me. :headshake

He was practicing for several weeks before the Steelers game. I read an article that the coach indicated he was ready to start if needed by the Steelers game but Orton was the starting QB by then and it was his to lose. From that point on Orton still started 3 of the last 4 regular season games, although not the playoff game.

You have no concept of time and how it applies to healing, gamespeed, timing, gameplay and many other things that come along with being an NFL QB coming off of a broken ankle. thats pretty much all.

WOW.

Again there is no guarantee! Rex is the starter. But you can sure leap to conclusions, make broad assumptions and then declare them as fact faster than anyone i have ever seen!

Bravo, that's imagination! :headbang

the funny thing to me is that there are a few posters who shall remain unnamed who feel the same way.

So true....but it takes a special kind of dumb to start a thread like this, and I can only think of 2 posters who would do that. One is the guy who started this thread, and the other is, well, the #1 Kyle Orton fan.

Its hard to tell, but this is actually one sentence.

OMG!!! Jerry Angelo is going to FIRE Lovie Smith!!!!

Our players must continue to work hard in terms of being in optimum shape heading into training camp. During the offseason, a lot of time will be spent doing just that. Our strength and conditioning coordinator, Rusty Jones, and his staff did an outstanding job last year. It allowed our players to perform to their God-given abilities. Along with that, each player has to also continue to develop the mental part of his game in what he's asked to do within the framework of our schemes. Playing smart is equally as important as working hard.

First, he says that Players need to be in optimum shape is a priority this off-season. First sign! Second, listen how he praises their strength and conditioning coordinator, Rusty Jones! Second Sign!

The writing is on wall obviously. No mention of Lovie. He is going to replace Lovie Smith with their strength and conditioning coordinator, Rusty Jones!!!

Lovie should retire and coach college football.

You are wrong. Lovie should retire and coach the CFL or AFL, one of the other top leagues.

I also read in there that Jerry Angelo hates Thomas Jones and Adrian Peterson, because sometime in the future they will lose their jobs to someone else. So we should just release them and draft someone else.

The loss was very disappointing given how we lost. Our defense didn't play to its capabilities and unfortunately it was a bad time to have a bad game.

Even worse he is ging to fire Ron Rivera and replace Brian Urlacher.

Brian should quit and go to NFL Euorpe, he could be a big star in Germany!
