February 17, 200620 yr BRUUUCE was just on ESPN 1000 and said that the Sox had the second best contract offer for Mike Myers in December but lost him to the Yankees. He said that since the Sox have 6 open roster spots on the 40-man, they could still trade for a lefty if the current candidates don't pan out.
February 17, 200620 yr I still struggle to think why we need a 2nd lefty. We should just keep the best pitcher that comes out of camp. We have a very good lefty who has begun to get lefties out and righties that get lefties out like Politte. I know its beating a deadhorse but The Angels and Marlins won World Series with no lefties (Michael Tejera not counting) and we won a championship nearly IN SPITE of having two lefties. Its just stupid for Ozzie to get locked in to thinking we have to have another lefty for the sake of having one

February 17, 200620 yr I hope either Baj or Tracey make the team.... Baj because he deserves his shot more than 5-10 innings and Tracey because from a lot of people it seems he can be dominant out of the pen.
February 17, 200620 yr Author I still highly doubt Tracey will be in the pen. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was just listing the three righty options. I don't expect him to win a job either.

Redding wasn't even touching the 90's last season. Bajenaru's minor league numbers are impressive so hopefully he could at least be as good as Vizcaino was last season. Let the best man win. February 17, 200620 yr QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) I'd likely list the options as Redding, Baj and then Tracey. Redding, due to his experience. Of course, if he stinks in ST, then Baj. Tracey has by far the greatest upside of those three. My order is probably Tracey (if he shows he's ready during spring), and than Baj. I don't consider Redding much anything unless he really comes in and impresses.
February 18, 200620 yr If Redding's stuff comes back I would like to see him be the long man. People have a mixed up idea around here of what a longman really is. They want Mac to do the job thinking it will keep his arm stretched out for starting. However, sometimes the longman doesn't throw for 11-12 games at a time depending on circumstances. I'd rather see Redding be that 4-5 inning longman and Mac more of a guy who might throw the 6th-7-8 in a 5-2 ballgame, not the 11-3 ones

I also think that is exactly what will be done with him, other than shutting him down before and after any starts he may get.
February 18, 200620 yr I really like the arms that have been accumulated so far. I really think atleast one of them will impress. Maybe more. If not, Kenny will take care of it.

February 18, 200620 yr Ever since the Sox signed Redding, I've had this strange feeling that he's gonna come through for us.
