Game Thread 3/20: White Sox vs. Royals

Featured Replies

White Sox look to bounce back after their defeat to the Brewers yesterday.

Scheduled to pitch are Danny Tamayo for the Royals and Brandon McCarthy for the Sox. I have also heard Hideo Nomo will pitch in his place. Any which way, Go Sox! :headbang

I hope Nomo pitches - I want to see if he has any gas left in the tank.

I know McCarthy is going to be there.

Also hope to see The Mythical Boone Logan :D pitch against major-leaguers.

The Royals don't have any major leaguers.

Good point.

Okay then, I would like to see him face the Royals' best players.

Will Alex Gordon be playing for the Royals this year?

Looks like Nomo will be starting this one off today.

Man, Singleton just made it sound like Thornton will get the second lefty job over Logan due to his major league experience if he shows anything this spring. Maybe he is just throwing out his own opinion though. It all depends on what Hawk thinks. If Hawk starts blowing this Thornton guy on TV, he will likely have the job.

Nomo gets the start

I'm going to ignore the needless Hawk bashing and say that Singleton is probably right. They will almost certainly break camp with Thornton on the big league squad, simply because you don't trade for a guy and then 13 days later let him onto the waiver wires. Neither Seattle nor the Sox would have made that deal if they didn't want to at least give the guy a try on the big league roster.

Logan will, IMO, either start at AA-AAA and come up if Thornton can't improve on his control after a month or two, or he'll break camp as a 3rd lefty if Hermanson can't go at all (less likely IMO).

They'll give Cooper a couple weeks/month or two to work with Thornton and then make a decision about whether to try to see if he'll clear waivers or hold onto him & keep working.

haha i was just on the mlb fantasy 411 radio, "ronnie from lithia florida has a question a trade"

It was great.

now im tuned into game, lets go nomo.

Geez never saw Nomo pitch, Weird ass windup.

Dejesus grounds out, Grud doubles to Left-Center Field.

can they take both Logan & Thornton, since it doesn't look like Hermanson will be there?

So instead of having one worthless arm, there will be two?

I wasn't trying to bash Hawk. Whenever he starts kissing a player's ass that means he will likely make the roster. He did the same thing with Widger last Spring Training. Last spring, Hawk kept mentioning over and over that Widger was taking great rips even though his numbers weren't showing it. Needless to say, Widger made the roster over Jamie Burke.

By the way, who started for the Royals?

Nomo's pitches look VERY hittable.

OOPS, Minky just did.....1-0 Royos.

Any TV for this game? What channel?

Stairs did Nomo a favor.

Just missed a 2-0 pitch, popping it up.

Sweeney's throws look craptastic.
