April 2, 200619 yr So, yeah, it's raining right now. Decent rain, harder than a drizzle but not a storm by any means. Hope it blows through before people get out to the park.
April 2, 200619 yr QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 11:08 AM) It was alot worse outside for Game 2, and everything seemed to work out fine......... looking at the radar theres a line of storms in/getting to chitown right now and nothing after it for a while. there is another cell moving our direction but it too isnt very big. this game should happen.
April 2, 200619 yr Author QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 10:08 AM) It was alot worse outside for Game 2, and everything seemed to work out fine......... True, but I wonder if MLB will be as patient with game 1 of 162 as they were with the World Series? I know the other side of that debate (more on the line in the WS), but I'm just curious how long they'll wait with an off-day tomorrow (not to mention that Monday was the original date for the opener)? My guess is it'll be played.
April 2, 200619 yr If today got rained out, is there any chance Tuesday becomes the home opener? I guess they would just do it Monday night.

April 2, 200619 yr It never rained here where I live downtown. Also just checked the radar and it looks as if it is all broken up and went right by downtown. I also do not see any rain in the future.

April 2, 200619 yr I've heard that a lot of the severe stuff should pass just to the south, so it looks like we may have a game! It will definitely rain, though. Edited April 2, 200619 yr by Cerbaho-WG

I also do not see any rain in the future. We got some rain in Bucktown, just a wee bit north o' downtown. National weather service put out a statement just a few minutes ago that a wave of thunderstorms will come through the area around later afternoon. Tom Skilling is saying scattered storms, some severe, throughout the afternoon and evening. Temps will hover from 50 to 65, depending on where you are in the area (50 north shore, 65 SW burbs), through the afternoon.
April 2, 200619 yr Even a worst-case scenario today sounds better than the 34-degree thunderstorm during Opening Day of '03.
April 2, 200619 yr QUOTE(WCSox @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 12:10 PM) Even a worst-case scenario today sounds better than the 34-degree thunderstorm during Opening Day of '03. oh man. I only wore a jersey to that game because it wasn't too bad at my house when i left. I think i was sick for the entire following month.
April 2, 200619 yr QUOTE(WCSox @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 01:10 PM) Even a worst-case scenario today sounds better than the 34-degree thunderstorm during Opening Day of '03. Yea like a 2.5 hour rain delay and then we too froze....I think I left after 7...was completely frozen!!!

April 2, 200619 yr Milli Vanilla baby..... "Blame it on the rain...... cuz you gotta blame it on something"
April 2, 200619 yr Scott Reifert gives us some insight from Roger Bossard: Weather According to Roger Bossard, we will get another wave of storms/rain before the game. After that, the radar currently is clear, but he is afraid more storms may pop up as they often do in April. It may be a long, cold, rainy night, but does it ever really rain when you are World Champions? (I did call my house and tell everyone to dress very warmly. You should, too).
April 2, 200619 yr Opening day last year was beautiful, I guess it was way to much to ask for, for that to happen 2 years in a row.
April 2, 200619 yr QUOTE(thedoctor @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) you can monitor chicago-area weather here Well, according to that it should stop raining at around 3am. Ouch.
April 2, 200619 yr April Fools day is a curse. First the Dan Ryan closes down (HA HA, MOTHERf***ERS!), and now bad weather that threatens to ruin opening day for a team that just won the Series for teh first time in 88 years? Damn...

April 2, 200619 yr QUOTE(letsgoarow @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) Milli Vanilla I've heard of them. I think that's Jose Valentine's favorite group. Milli Vanilli is pretty good too. They're pretty f***ing far from heterosexual, but you know, I can dig it.
