I remember having a science textbook in like 3rd or 4th grade that said we would be out of oil by the year 2000-2010.

Well, we're never going to be totally "Out" of oil, because there is actually a finite amount being generated right now (i.e. there are reservoirs that you can pump at a constant rate and they don't decrease in volume). But it may very well wind up having been close to the "Peak" production year in that guesstimate.

Those estimates were also based on exponentially increasing oil/ energy usage, but more modern models have society approaching a limit. Nothing grows exponentially forever.

You heard it here first, it won't happen. Yeah it would be nice, but the middle eastern emirs won't let it happen.

Good.

In the long term view, the last thing this country needs is cheap gas.

No green here either.

It's our RIGHT, just like it is to post whatever we want on Soxtalk, to have cheap gas. You draw the appropriate comparision.

Just filled up for 2.23

2.68 around the corner for me when I filled up tonight. That was down from 2.75 over last weekend.

2.39 yesterday, down from a high of 3.09... 70 cent drop since the peak this summer.

2.34 here in Carbondale.

Gassed up for 2.39 today. Down from about 3.25 a gallon earlier this summer.

That site you gave is pretty damn accurate. I was surprised when I was tooling around last night that it was $2.26 with my card.
