May 10, 200619 yr Does anyone know why any of the games are on WCIU? The colors are awful, the sound crackles or drops out all together, and watching the on screen graphics you can tell the screen is cropped. I know I am not the first to b**** about this, but does anyone know why the White Sox would let their product be broadcast on such a crappy station?

I'm sure someone has a better knowledge of the deal, when it expires and what the Sox may be getting out of it.

May 10, 200619 yr QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 10, 2006 -> 05:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> All home games, including ones on WCIU are broadcast in HD. You forgot to make that green.
May 11, 200619 yr [link] WCIU Telecasts You are correct in noticing that White Sox home games on WCIU are now available in HD. In fact, all Sox home games -- whether on WGN, Comcast or WCIU -- are now in HD.
May 11, 200619 yr If they are all in HD, then it is the crappiest HD signal I have seen yet. I just got hooked up yesterday, and last nights game and tonights both look like a standard signal, even though they say "HD".
May 11, 200619 yr I believe the games are on the 'U' because there was something that came down awhile back that limited the amount of games WGN could broadcast nationwide. So...to the "U" and beyond..
May 11, 200619 yr What's the deal with the White Sox usurping Fresh Prince. I NEED MY DAILY DOSE OF CARLTON.

May 11, 200619 yr QUOTE(knightni @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) MLB.tv Sox games would be blacked out, if I bought it here.

I only get CSN and WGN games.
May 11, 200619 yr I have Comcast, and WCIU cannot be in HD, because WCIU doesn't have an HD channel. Maybe they will eventually, but right now, its not there. So for us Comcast users, WCIU comes in standard only (and their standard is pretty low). The games on WGN and CSN are HD because they both have HD channels on Comcast.
May 11, 200619 yr I still don't understand why the Sox and Cubs would have a contract with a crappy UHF station. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me.
May 12, 200619 yr I live downstate and don't get WCIU on cable so I hooked up my antennae and watch the sox on my 13" instead of my HD tv. It is all about seeing the sox.

The games on WGN and CSN are HD because they both have HD channels on Comcast. This is very true, Comcast is on 200 and WGN is on 192 here, during the Sox game I searched up and down 173-208 which are all HD channels for a WCIU channel thinking maybe it would be on INHD or the SEHD and got nothing. If this magical channel does exist, it's on some cable/satelite service I don't know about.
May 12, 200619 yr I thought the arrangement with WCIU was formed by WGN in order to give sufficient prime time exposure to WB network shows
