I expected a healthy Matt Morris to pitch well in SF based on his first half numbers from last year, but it's not working out thus far.

 

Brad Radke is only 33 years old. It's not like he's over-the-hill. He has to turn it around at some point, but his numbers are atrocious right now. That's actually an understatement.

 

Most of these guys play in great pitching conditions (Willis, Blanton, L. Hernandez, Morris, F. Hernandez, Haren, Duke, etc), so their numbers are all the more disturbing.

 

If your BAA is up over .300, you're just killing your team. Garland is at .333 right now.

When I saw the title a second ago, I thought, "Garland has to be on this." He is, and he deserves it.

 

Millwood, to me, isn't surprising at all.

I made mention of this last night in a different thread about Silva, but all the same. His K/BB is actually decent - 3.00 - but that's because he hands out walks people like he's playing softball. The fact remains that he has 12 K's in 42.2 IP...Flash Gordon has twice as many in 16 innings.

 

Burnett's obviously a disappointment because he is bringing in $60 mill and has pitched 10 innings. That's just pure ouch.

How about guys who were expected to be decent rotation filler, and end up sucking worse than the suckiest suck? Rodrigo Lopez, Jeff Weaver, Matt Cain.

 

And don't forget Tim Hudson. He's had a couple stellar outings to bring his overall numbers down, but when a guy of his pedigree has a pattern of games that reminds you more of Daniel Cabrera than Tim freaking Hudson, that's a disappointment.

To say they suck because they're never healthy is one thing. To say that they suck when they are healthy is blind stupidity, especially in Prior's case. I'd take him on our team in a second, regardless of health issues.

Zambrano has been hurting my teams, 1-2 with an ERA of about 4...so if you want to take the "Cub hate" angle, he's the guy you'd look at .

Carlos Silva gave up 9 walks in 188 IP last year, which IIRC was the 7th best ratio in the history of the majors. I read it somewhere, but I can't recall the source.

 

I considered Burnett, but he's been injured pretty much all season, so I left him off.

I considered Hudson, but he was saved by a good WHIP (1.27) and a respectable BAA (.251). His numbers started to look much better once I got to the Pettites, Garlands, Blantons, Radkes, etc.

He got off to an atrocious start, but he leads the NL in strikeouts with 54 (second in the MLB to Johan's 58), has a damn good BAA (.233), and his ERA is now under 4.00. That WHIP (1.54) is still pathetic, though.

Livan should improve hes doin better his last couple games but thus far makes the list.

Willis is on a poor team with no run support I didnt expect much, smart fantasy owners like me were smart enough to not draft him.

I dont know if i consider felix eligible but he has some hype around him.

Barely his first FULL year in the bigs and he's on a list with alot of quality pitchers who have been in the league for years? I don't agree with Blanton and Duke eigher, even though Blanton is worse right now. I'll take Duke and King Felix's era over say the others right now. Sheets, Burnett have got to be on there. And like another poster said, Oliver Perez has so much friggin potential and GREAT stuff, yet he can't even get a good era in the bigs (1 good year.) Man you talk about a waste of talent.

Yep Oliver just needs a scenery change like that of Jose Contreras, maybe move to the AL which in my opinion wouldnt help (look at Randy) but some players just need to find a new home, being on the pirates isnt very motivating, they are horrible and no player would enjoy pitching for them.

meh.. to each his own. He's not bothering me. Plus, I think sox fans who grow up in or around chicago have a different perspective on the cub hate than sox fans from different parts of the country or world for that matter. Sox fans in chicago have to go to school, work with, live with and most importantly deal with cub fans every breathing day of our lives. So if he needs to lash out, what better place than a white sox message board? I have never been in his shoes, so he may have reasons that he compiled over his life to add to the core of his hate towards the Cubs and their fans. I know I have my reasons.
