I'm more and more encouraged by Matt.

I thought he was going to hurt us more than help us when the trade went down. But that was before we all knew how brutal our bullpen really was going to be. Borchard was dumped by the Mariners and is now on the Marlins. So getting a lefty who can throw 96-98 MPH for a guy who has already changed teams again must be a good trade.

Into the A's bullpen here, Kiko Colero, I guess that's Oakland-ese for Augustin Montero or perhaps Boone Logan.

Calero has a lot more talent than Montero and Logan but he's apparently been a teeball stand this season.

So Garland's outing went from really bad to mediocre ... 4 ER in 6 1/3 innings.

It's been the Frank show tonite. It seemed like whenever Garland made a mistake they jumped all over it, and when he made a good pitch he wasn't getting the call. At least it was nice to see him keep us in the game. Now if we could only score some runs...............

I actually thought it was a good trade at the time, no matter what. If you can get a good live arm for Joe Borchard you do it every time. What they've been getting out of Thornton is a big bonus.

Lefties hitting .158 against Matt.

We really needed that third lefty with Cotts and Thornton, hehe.

That was the best Sox at bat of the night, base hit for Iguchi.

Follwed by a not good at bat by Thome, double play.

Matt is sort of like Cotts in early 05 for me. I really like what I see, but you just sort of expect something bad to happen...

^^^^^

We suck tonite. Those 3 day games against the Cubs probably took alot out of this team.

I thought Zito has just owned us throughout his career? I could be wrong..

We just aren't playing well right now. Not getting the big hit, not making the big defensive play, not making the big pitch. Just not playing well. Been that way for about 2 weeks.

This year we are having last year's August in May. Hopefully, in this year's August we will have last year's May.

Let's see if Frank can hit #3. Oh wait, Garland isn't pitching anymore so we actually have a chance of getting him out.
