It wasn't particularly pretty by Montero, but he deserves credit for a job well done.

I like DJ's strike out calls - short, enthusiastic. Now, if he would stop trying to speak with a southern accent when waxing philosophical about the old days...

wouldn't it be amazing if our pen could close out a game without giving up a bunch of runs

Or even better, doing it twice in a row?

Yay Neal

You mean like last night?

Ok, I'll give you credit...that was good analysis.

I thought you were just a Tigers homer.

Not at all. Sure it's nice to see them win and all, but I'm not afraid to say we stink, and right now we do.

I like the Montero call by Ozzie, regardless of what happens. It's a long season; let's see what Montero's made of...

Yes, exactly.

He needed to make a better 0-2 pitch to Vance Wilson though, and he knew it.

Let's not go down easy. Put a couple more on the board here!

It's inexcusable.

Who else would you rather see from our system? There is not an option available now that would be a gaurentee to be better than Montero and you are going to have to pay out the wazoo to get him.

Montero may have caught too much plate, but at least he threw strikes and made them hit the damn ball, and behind from the count for that matter. Not many have done that out of our pen this year.

3-4-5 up...the deadly trio. Time for some insurance.

Credit to Montero. He didn't look especially good, but he got the job done. Can't believe it.

Good work Montero (and Cotts)!

Like a previous poster said, this cannot be a 4-man bullpen. Those guys will be burnt-out by August. Until we go out and get BP help, we will need to rely on Montero and/or ST from time-to-time. Hopefully, Montero will get some positive momentum out of this outing.

That a boy Neal!!! Thankfully, Ozzie was smart enough to have a LHP face Granderson.

Of course he brought in Cotts to get Granderson, did you imagine he wouldn't? I mean, c'mon.

We winning or losing I can't tell by the past couple posts?

He let Montero face Gomez (a lefty)

As myself and others have said all season, that's something that should have been addressed in the offseason.

Thome whiffs, but hey Walker might be the toughest lefty specialist in the game these days. Here comes the righty Zumaya to face Konerko and Dye. This should be interesting.

4-3 sox

Yep, and his ERA is down to 3.60 now, albeit he's only pitched about 5 innings.

It's very Vizcaino like though, and if he can keep it there, he could definitely have a role in this pen.

Did you read the smack Zumaya was talking about Paulie after striking him out?

How do I get in trouble for giving Ozzie a minor compliment? :P I figured he would do it, but you never know with Ozzie.

I'm still scratching my head over that play by Gomez. How is that not a hit and and error?

Konerko Vs. Zumaya, round 3.

Well said, and agreed on all counts. And I think he can be a Vizcaino type circa 2005 in the pen.
