White Sox Loser

Featured Replies

Plenty of blame to go around, today.

As was said in the game-thread, you simply have got to beat the teams you are supposed to beat.

If you want to win this division--especially this year--you have got to beat the teams with the worst records in all of baseball. This is an awful team the defending champions lost to today. Don't give me any of that, "but, they won the series, that's all you can ask for" bulls***. Tell that to the Tigers. Ask them to slow down and start settling for series victories without the sweep.

Bad.

Cliff Politte can stay in Pittsburgh.

He's done.

Also to note, who was catching Count today, the Widge. His catcher's ERA in above 5. He is just not cutting and I could care less about his O, but he is not calling a good game for our pitchers.

yeah we needed to try and keep up with the tigers. They are blowing through everybody and not slowing down. We need to beat a s***ty team like pittsburg

Sure glad we got Politte in there quickly, we really missed him.

Agreed. Offense isn't too important for backup catchers, we need someone who knows how to call a game.

Well 2 and a half out and the Tigers are going to get another Sweep and no matter what we never sweep the Cubs so I expect to be 3 and a half back by Monday.

And that bottom of the order is brutal-

Bad.

But we won the road series, that's all you can ask for on the road

I've said it about a trillion times already, Pittsburgh is not even close to the same team away from PNC Park as they are at home.

We have got good milage out of Widger, but he has become Widger again, the guy that was out of the Major Leagues Widger

Uribe has been coming around lately. And BA has hit safely in like 6 of his last 7 games.

I can't blame Widger when Contreras has been inconsistent for a while now. I can blame Ozzie for not taking him out of the game when there's a man in scoring position and less than 2 out, and when he proved that he had nothing working. The pitcher can't be batting in that situation.

If it wasn't for the rain delay, Count never would have been pulled and this game becomes a really bad loss. And Politte sucks.

Bingo. The White Sox will not sweep the Cubs. It doesn't happen. It's too odd a serious for that to happen.

These are the games you have to win. Lest we forgot Manuel/2004 Guillen, wins in June are worth the same as wins in September.

People need to explain themselves after today's loss.

Oh wow, another faithless doom and gloom projection after a single bad road loss

Color me surprised

So you think that the Tigers will have a problem sweeping them this weekend. Minny was able to sweep them in PNC. They never scored more than 3 runs against the Twins in any game.

Two of three on the road? Yes, in most cases, that is all you can ask for. But, when playing the arguably the worst team in Major League Baseball, that no longer holds any weight.

When in a hunt for both the division and the pennant, that sort of mentality will cripple a winning ballclub.

That is schoolyard, homer bulls***. You need to win 3/3 from the Pittsburgh Pirates when you are the defending champions and are trailing a team that will not be going away--Le Tigre are there for the long haul.

I appreciate everything Politte did for the team last year, but I believe it is now time to officially close the book on Cliff.

That said, meh, we won the series and I'm not going to get to the point where I'm so panic-stricken about the Tigers that I demand sweeps against teams with less talent than the Sox. I'll take them, but that kind of pressure is ridiculous. The Tigers are bound to cool off at some point, but if they don't, I'm not going to be disappointed if the Sox make the playoffs but don't win the division if it happened to take 108 wins or so to accomplish the feat.

Boy, the Sox have been on such a hot streak, I starting forgetting how fast the wheels fall off around here...

Good to see everyone back.

So true. Interesting to see some of the names at the bottom of the page that have just shown back up...

I would absolutely bet against the Tigers sweeping the Pirates at PNC.

LOL. I'd love to hear somebody tell any member of the team that they need to explain themselves after this loss. Man whoever you asked wouldn't be able to stop laughing.

No, no, not from you too. I can't believe some of the rhetoric I'm hearing from posters that really ought to know better.

Disappointing.

You know what's bulls***? A pessimistic fan incapable of contextualizing a one-game road losing streak.

The Sox were playing too much bad baseball today.. Re-group and go kill 'em tomorrow!

Junk managing from Ozzie today. Christ.

You as well? The beat goes on.

This is disappointing. I wouldn't have expected this sort of talk from you Steve, or Rock, or SS and even Tony.
