Jim f***ing Thome runs way way way way harder to 1st than Pods does. When you have 0 tools how can you afford not to run hard to 1st?

That's my problem with Pods the guy has great speed but doesn't use it unless he's stealing bases.

The good news is we still have the WC lead for at least another day, no matter what happens tonight! At this point in the season, that brings a smile to my face.

I've been so impressed with Pierre the last 3 months or so.

 

A lot of people knock the guy because of his arm (and it really is awful -- worse than Podsednik's) but he plays hard, uses his speed and runs down everything. I think he's actually a very good centerfielder, arm notwithstanding. Oh, yeah, he also doesn't pout or become reticent when things go bad (like several of our guys, including the starting left-fielder). He has zero pop and doesn't walk much, but he's a damn good baseball player.

We have 1 reliable starting pitcher right now. That's not going to get us anywhere.
