Dissapointed. I am hoping that it is a bullpen thing. I desperately want to believe it because we'll need him next year in the rotation. He is flat out not good right now. Also dissapointed BA is slumping again, but that shouldn't be a huge surprise.

 

The disappointing thing to me about McCarthy is that not only are his results bad, but his stuff is medicore on the mound right now. He's in the Garcia mode where I don't have a clue how he gets guys out.

I'd just like to point out my own observation: I know a few of you have been down on Thome of late for his lack of homers/"clutch hitting" but, IMO, he's been VERY key for us in terms of getting important walks. I can recall a couple times he's taken a walk in a close game with a man on first, putting that player in scoring position for a single after, and it's paid off a ton.

i agree, i don't think people appreciate what Jim did for us in the begining of the season.

He hit a go-ahead homer off of Contreras at the Cell last year. I think Kevin Walker then blew a lead we had later in the game.

His OBP is outstanding. He has had trouble against lefties, but he should at least still be batting 3rd against righties. Get Dye some more ABs with baserunners.
