anyone else worried that thome might be mediocre next year?

 

I'm not sure if he'll be mediocre....but I think he's going to have to be very lucky to match his numbers from this year.

im thinking along the lines of 270, 30, 100. not mediocre, but mediocre by thome standards.

It might not be the worst idea for next year to give Thome 1, 2 days off a week. Keep him fresh for the whole season.

 

I would love for the Sox to get a righty bat for the bench who they can play against the tough lefties like C.C., Santana, etc. (even though Thome's done well vs Santana this year).

You know...back when we had Ordonez/Thomas, any time they'd walk Thomas to get to Ordonez, you just knew Magglio was going to crush the ball solely because he didn't like being shown up by the intentional walk.

 

Ordonez and Thomas has nice line drive swings. Ordonez and Thomas hit the ball gap to gap. Its hard to beat that with RISP.

 

Thome is Rob Deer, pull and lift and hope for the carry. He may dong you, but more often than not he will K or popup.

It probably wouldn't have been a bad idea to just pencil in a day off per week for Thome this season, but we didn't do it.

 

The only guy we give that much rest to is our center fielder...cause you know, we're gonna dominate winterball.

It fooled him quite a bit, and he adjusted to it mid-swing. He's just that good.
