Predict the final 13 games...

Predict what you think the Sox will do in the next 13 games. I don't feel like depressing myself some more, so I will just predict what it will take for us to get to the playoffs...

And that doesn't seem very possible, IMO.

I predict that in the next 13 games, Ozzie will continue to put the wrong players in the lineup, leave struggling starting pitchers in too long and give key relief innings to guys like Logan and Hermanson.

I also predict that Ozzie's frustration over the fact that his "great managing" isn't leading to wins is going to lead to one of his classic freak-out meltdowns. That will be the only highlight of the remainder of the season.

I also predict that Konerko will respond to the Sox getting mathematically eliminated by yawning and saying, "Oh well, maybe next year."

i predict that the sox will go 5-8 and will miss the playoffs.

I predict that the Sox will win 6 of the next 13 games

3-10 with 3 straight losses to detroit starting tomorrow. then they finally stick this pig and let it bleed to death

7-6 just like the entire season.

ozzie will rip some players soon.

players will rip him anonymously

then the s*** will really fly.

hope so.

can you imagine the plane ride home right now?

I hope someone is jawing at Ozzie right now for his piss poor strategic moves.

At this point, who gives a s***?

If it's anything like the way this season has gone...

Sox take the first two of the Detroit series, remarkably getting wins from both Mark Buehrle and Freddy Garcia. However, a blown three run lead late in the third game doesn't allow the Sox to sweep.

More of the same against Seattle. Sox split the series, but neither Minny or Detroit quite pull away, leaving the Sox three out of the WC and still four back of the division.

The Sox gain a game on Minny in the Cleveland series, leaving them two back heading into the series in the Twinkydome, with Detroit already taking the division crown.

And, of course, when you think that this season can't get any worse... well, they'll probably take the first two and have some crippling, make-you-want-to-stick-a-gun-to-your-head type loss in the third game, as we watch Minnesota celebrate on our grave.

Gotta love my positive outlook, ehh?

I'll go with 11-2

3 game sweep of Detroit

3 of 4 from Seattle

2 of 3 from Tribe

3 game sweep of the Twins

Win out.

Lose out.

16-0 and Super Bowl bound.

The Twins will have to go into a real tailspin and we'll have to play like we haven't played all year for us to even get the wild card. They way Minnesota is playing, it's not going to happen.

15 - -2

The MLB exec's will look back and just give us 3 games, and then take 1 away, and they'll win out. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Well, I feel pretty good about facing the tigers. It seems like the Tigers are the only team the sox show up to face this entire season. Maybe we can sweep them, and hope the red sox try and play spoiler and sweep the twins.

Hey, I haven't given up hope!

Well, we have the next 10 games to try to get within two games of the Twins and then a 3 game series in Minny at the end. Sure this weekend just about killed us, but it's not over.

That actually sounds like the way it should play out, based on how this team has worked this season.

The hopes go up, then crushed, then revived, then crushed again, repeat until nauseous.

The only part you left out was that the winning run in the deciding game would score on the following sequence:

Leadoff walk

Bloop single, Uribe and Mackowiak (in center because you can't possibly play Anderson) almost colliding

Sacrifice bunt, runners advance to 2nd & 3rd

Intentional walk to set up the force play at any base and an inning-ending double play

Wild pitch scores the game-winner

Yeah, they have the 10 games to do that, but nothing they've done since mid-June makes me think they CAN do that.

I now believe that magic burst of playoff-experience-based Superplay just doesn't exist.

Lose a lot of games until we're officially eliminated, and then win out.

Since DET is still struggling a bit, I think they are the only shot we really have. If we sweep Detroit, we'd be 2 behind them with 10 left, and I'll feel like we have a chance. Barring that happening, or an unexpected tailspin from MIN, I think we are in deep doo-doo.

10-3

I tried to be as optimistic and as realistic as possible, but does that even put in them in position to make the playoffs sans a Det or Min collapse?

To me it's all about tonight...

If we win tonight I think we go on a roll. If we lose, we'll be out of this thing by week's end.

The way this team is playing and the way the numbers add up it just doesn't seem like we can make up any sort of ground. A sweep of the Tigers is a must before we really can start to talk about anything else. The Pirahnas smell blood now and they will be biting all the way to the end.

I'll go with an ambitious 8-5. But we'll lose the final series to Minnesota and miss the playoffs by 2 games.
