Wow... im kind of glad Freddy is gone even if his fastball returns but yeah I thought we could do better than Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez.

So it's basically Gio being substituted for Rowand.

 

I don't really see how this makes a lot of sense UNLESS, these 2 are then flipped to the D-Rays for say Carl Crawford or Rocco Baldelli.

 

It's nice to have Gio back in the organization though for the moment because I rate him highly.

We are either doing something with that cash, or flipping both of these guys somewhere. This cant be the deal. This doesnt help us this year at all.

id be willing to bet that one of these guys is dealt for something else

a few things.....this saves us 10 million, and floyd and gio become our #1 and #2 pitching prospects, but i think we coulda more...like a major league ready reliever....but to me this trade reeks of more trades to come....williams acquiring young pitching to trade for other parts

Quick scouting report on Floyd:

 

On a good day, Floyd has a 94 mph fastball and a hard-breaking, 12-to-6 curveball. On a bad day, he tightens up and loses velocity on his fastball and bite on his curveball

KW must think that Coop can obvioiusly fix him, and get him back to the level that made him a serious stud prospect about 2 years ago.

Comcast just said Rowand is involved.

Tampa is after young pitching, and Gio is pretty much very similar to B-Mac in terms of overall talent level.

 

Unless they get a better offer from elsewhere for either, I still think something could get done here.

This better turn into something/someone better, or else Kenny got some 'splainin to do....

there has to be another deal on the horizon. i cant believe that we are willing to just concede a starter and then say that we can compete in the 2nd best division in baseball this year.

I'm not terribly dissappointed with this deal. If either of these guys ever figure it out, they're going to be real good. Gotta harness some control, we're getting twelve years of these two + $10 million for one year of Freddy.

 

It's a letdown from the Pelfrey/Milledge rumors, but I don't find it that terrible...

I am going to be calm and wait to see if there is another move coming. If not - This is worse than the Kip Wells to Pittsburgh trade.

 

I would love to be in the meeting where everyone on Kenny's team found out this is all they could get for Freddy. This makes me sick.

Thats what im thinking DB. We didnt have the top spects to make a deal before, now we just got two nice ones.
