December 8, 200619 yr No #'s released yet but the Score is reporting the Sox will be avoiding arb for the next 3 seasons with Mac.
December 8, 200619 yr Works for me. It'll definitely be interesting to see the numbers on this one. Edited December 8, 200619 yr by Rowand44
December 8, 200619 yr It'll be interesting to see what the #'s are, it's a bit risky to give a guy who has been hurt so much a three year deal.
December 8, 200619 yr sounds good. hopefully we can have a solid 1-2-3 punch in Thorton, Macdougal and Jenks for a long time. Now we need to figure out the bottom 3... i dunno about you guys but Aardsema, Floyd, and Haegar just isn't appealing to me. Lets at least get 1 more veteran for down there.
December 8, 200619 yr QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Dec 8, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) It'll be interesting to see what the #'s are, it's a bit risky to give a guy who has been hurt so much a three year deal. Octavio Dotel just got a 1 year deal from the Royals no less for 5 million Wow this market is crazy. I know I sound like an old man who used to pay a dime for a cup of coffee and now pays $2, but I remember when you could get a starter for 5 million.
December 8, 200619 yr Mystery solved. MacDougal gets Freddie's 10 million. That's it. End of offseason. I like MacDougal. I'm happy to hear he's gonna be around a while.
December 8, 200619 yr Author This deal could turn out great for the Sox if the price is right. This way they not only avoid arbitration for all 3 years they'll also have a team option for Mac's first year of free agency keeping him under White Sox control for the next 4 seasons.
December 8, 200619 yr Score said the deal is for six million (total, not per year). I like it, especially since he was arbitration eligible anyway.
December 8, 200619 yr QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Dec 8, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) Score said the deal is for six million (total, not per year). I like it, especially since he was arbitration eligible anyway. Way below market value. Great signing.
December 8, 200619 yr I thought he was already locked until 2009? He was only making $430,000 per year
December 8, 200619 yr Keep working your magic Herm! I really like what he brings to the table and I'm glad to have him back. I love the Indians model of tying up young talent through the arbitration years at a reasonable cost and I wish KW would do more of it. However, it's far from a remote possibility that the Macdougal trade and now this extension combine to blow up in KW's face if Lumsden tears up the league and Macdougal continues his string of injuries. But like I said, keep working your magic Mr. Herman Schneider.
December 8, 200619 yr Great signing. After seeing what some of these other relievers have been getting, this is a great deal.
December 8, 200619 yr Very glad to see this...he is good insurance in case God forbid something happen to Jenks.
December 8, 200619 yr Good one - however, what would he get in arbitration if we offered it to him every year for the next 3 years? I know it is a function of how well he does, but anyone can project it?
December 8, 200619 yr Clearly, we aren't paying enough money out. Cheap bastards. Trade him for Lilly.
December 8, 200619 yr Nice move - If the market continues the way it is now and Mike pitches well - this is a very smart move.
December 8, 200619 yr i like this move, hopefully the market will correct it self in two years but regardless this is a very nice move by the FO. lets hope Herm can keep the back end of our BP healthy.
