Now That Jimbo's is Gone

Featured Replies

I just remembered that.

So what will be the home base? Everybody's going to go west now a few blocks?

I'm curious what other Soxtalkers will be calling home in '07 for pre- and post-game.

Schaller's Pump or Schinnick's. My family loves business

Puffers and Union park

Jimbo's isn't gone yet and likely will be open till Nov 07.

stop it your scaring me!!

Maybe now someone will open a real bar.

c'mon...what's not to love about a bar that charges like $5 for a freaking can of Miller Lite.

And bullied Sox fans during the 2005 playoffs while letting Woo-Woo wobble around in his bear pajamas.

catchers and millers tap(puffers). I like those bars cause there within walking distance of my house. Any bar you can crawl home from is good in my book.

I am a sucker for Cobblestone's. You can park for free south of 39th and have a nice walk through the bombing huge houses going up around there.

The bartenders are real fans but the mgmt is getting a little out of hand. They have a parking lot as well butthe cost is getting funky. They lack neighborhood pull as they have a small beer garden but can't use it. It blows Jimbo's away but it is a walk.

I know ............ I cant tell you how much of SHOCK its going to be for me, when that place isnt there anymore. Its easily been years and years that its my pre-game ritual, walk by, say hello, grab a beer,

and when the games got more crowded, meet up with whomever, grab a beer, and walk in to the park.

I still think that its ridiculous that Jimbos is the closest bar to the ballpark ......... there really needs to be a couple places added across the street

I also love the fact that when former SOX pre-game host Dave Wills is in town,

he makes sure to stop in and say hello too

So we get another summer of Jimbo's?! HURRAY!

THat's AWESOME! I really was bummed thinking I didn't get to say my goodbyes!

Now I'm REALLY psyched about 2007!

For the sake of the slow like me, why were they going to have to close again?

Their lease was up, and the owner of the building was kicking them out.

only prob with Punchinellos, is that it doesnt make sense for those getting off the L at 35th.

nobody will walk to 31st, have a beer, then walk all the way back for the game.

Punchinellos is very cliquey. Best to know someone before just strolling on in there.

......that and the fights that ALWAYS break out.

Yeah that's the bummer about non-Jimbo's bars (I've been to a few). Us North Side losers have to walk all the way back to the el.

Oh well! What's another 15 minutes!
