June 1, 200718 yr This teir of players could really be flip flopped (especially the 6 through 9 spot). In fact, there was some debate of moving a couple of these guys up into the 5 spot.

June 2, 200718 yr If we were to make a list that completely included prospects based on this season's results a few guys would shoot up or down. We only moved guys up or down a spot or two in the case of close calls because we released them at such different times.

I would imagine De Los Santos and Russell are the ones that have experienced the most movement. Egbert is coming out of nowhere to many Sox fans as well. Last night, I don't think Slowey threw one pitch over 90 for the Twins, but he only gave up one run, and of course Bert Blyleven was already comparing him to Radke with his command and changes of speed. If we can ever get anything out of Kris Honel at the major league level, that would be a very pleasant surprise. Of course, for every positive story, there are two negative ones...Francisco Hernandez, Liotta, Valido, Stumm, Malone, etc.

He may not be the potential all-star catcher that people thought he might be a couple years ago. But I still feel like at worst he is a solid back-up catcher because he is great at defense, has a terrific arm and can switch hit and actually hit pretty solidly. The others though are pretty much busts. Liotta had a tough season last year since his family was hit pretty hard by Katrina, so he might just need a season to shake off the consequences of that.

Yeah, Hernandez is okay. He's a little older than you would (ideally) want, but 21 isn't terribly old for the SALLY league. If he can have a solid year down at A-ball, he'll put himself back on the map as a top ten(ish) prospect for the Sox again.

At this rate he isn't going to make it out of A ball. As a college pitcher. The last 2 drafts have been just atrociously bad (didn't fathom mention a some Baseball America staffers openly laughing at the Sox picks?). The Sox scouting/development system is considered a joke by the leading national publication on minor league baseball. That's just embarrassing.
