Obama 40%

Clinton 26%

Edwards 20%

Richardson 11%

McCain 33%

Romney 25%

Huckabee 17%

Paul 10%

Giuliani 10%

Thompson 3%

Early returns show 37 Clinton, 36 Obama. McCain winning by 10+ over Romney. Stick a fork in em and get out yr oven mitt. Romney's done.

Can someone tell me or give me a link that tells me quite simply how the primary system works? I realized I didn't know the other day and neither does the wemun.

LOL, the more rural areas close an hour earlier than the more urban ones, so there's a guaranteed bias in reporting times.

Simple. 50 states have delegates towards nominating a party's candidate. Each state has different rules that allow members of the party, or in some states, non-affiliated voters to decide which candidates should their delegates align with.

Primaries were developed so that the parties were no longer run by smoke filled back rooms, and give voters a chance to choose who should represent them. The rules, however, are different in every state.

The candidate that has the number of pledged delegates that match up with the minimum number of delegates needed (50%+1) at the convention becomes the nomination.

CNN Exit Polls show Clinton winning by 4 points in urban areas.

CNN Calls it for McCain.

Currently a 700 vote difference between Clinton and Obama.

Big fight is gonna be for third in the GOP race between Paul and Huckabee.

Rex just addressed this, but Manchester as urban as NH gets (33% reporting) has Hill blowing the doors off Obama, by 15 points. The 1000 vote difference as of this second can be traced entirely to Manchester.

All 50 states vote? I thought only a handful did, is that because of the wide results of the past? When would illinois get to vote if so?

Fox News exit poll has Obama winning by 5.

Wow, currently, with 12% reporting...

Clinton 38%

Obama 36%

Edwards 17%

Richardson 5%

And for he GOP...

McCain 37%

Romney 28%

Huckabee 12%

Giuliani 9%

Paul 9%

Thompson 1%

So Clinton surprising so far, and the fight for 3rd in the GOP is interesting.

Half of Manchester reporting, Clinton up there by 1400 votes. Nice turnout organization on her part.

New prediction based on initial Manchester numbers. Clinton ekes out a one point victory in NH.

Wait, Manchester is already reported?

Faux News? And an exit poll? Hard to have that matter less.

Where are you getting the district-specific vote totals?

CNN has county by county.

Hm. Clinton had a 2100 vote margin... now down to about 1600.

And now back up to 2000.

Looks like this will be really close. The areas they are saying Obama will do well in are reporting slower.

I still think Hillary loses tonight, but if she keeps it close.... its a victory for her.

McCain train looking good, took 36% of Reps and 36% of independents so far.... he struggled getting the conservative base in 2000, did alot better this time around.

Grafton County REPRESENT. This is probably the largest of the non-'urban' parts of the state. Very liberal with Dartmouth and being right on the Vermont border. Lots of Obama supporters, so hopefully it helps.

Wow on Clinton. I don't think many people saw it being THIS close. She's really fighting back here.
