To the first part. Umps get suspended. Especially in scenarios in which a game is called this poorly. They're trained rigorously, but they're not above the millions of dollars going into both teams. I'm quite certain it's not just the fans that will complain this time.

To the second part. He was making a point. Not threatening to delete your account.

Umps get suspended because fans b**** about the "poor quality of the game?" That's definitely a new one and I'm not sure that's the case. I doubt anything will happen to this umpiring crew.

I don't care what the point was.

It was buehrles/dotels / credes / uribes fault!!

Why hang blame on Uribe? He didn't do all that bad. He was slow to turn a double play which wouldn't have mattered if Cabrera caught the DP grounder the play before. And K'd three times. (He might've missed a sac fly but for some reason my gut is telling me there were two outs. And he wasn't the only to miss a sac fly opportunity today, anyway.) But he was far from the reason the White Sox lost. I'd put it on Buehrle (obvious reasons), Cabrera (missed DP that led to 7 runs, terrible AB with sacks packed and 0 out) and Guillen for mismangement of PH situations.

No thanks.

What do you think a message board is for, then? And what's the harm in someone spending 5 or 10 minutes writing a letter to MLB about something that bothers him? Even if it doesn't accomplish anything, at the least it'll make the person who wrote it feel better.

I really don't understand your angle here.

No thanks.

Seems very close-minded of you The Beast. :huh

How can you be a quality radio host if the only side of an argument that you listen to is the side that you favor?

Do you really want to be lumped in with Rush Limbaugh and Al Franken?

Uribe sucked, as always. He comes through with the occasional double or home run purely because the law of averages says if he awkwardly throws the bat out over the plate like an angry drunken caveman it'll eventually connect with the ball, but more often than not he will chase garbage at eye level or a foot off the plate until he strikes out.

EVERY slide like that is intentional. If you are going to call it, call it all of the time. Calling it when you feel like it is bulls***.

That play was Cabrera's fault. You don not slid into the base and try and grab the fielder with your hands. That is obvious interfence. When you take out the fielder in that situation, you need to slide into the fielder while still being in arms length of the bag.

Cabrera completely blew that, and the umpire was right to call interferance on that. You can't make it so freaking obvious and grab the guy.

But the other two were pretty bad. The umpire at home was out of position and completely blew that call... but the umpire on first on A.J.'s play wasn't out of position, but you have to see that. Garko's foot was a complete 6 inches, at least, off the bag.

He had 3 pitiful K's... he doesn't belong starting on any major league team.

Speaking for myself, not Beast, I think the harm is that it makes Sox fans look like little whiny b****es.

Oh, and to all those who wanted Thome benched today... told ya so ;) Sure, I wanted him moved down to the 5 spot, but I still thought he had to be in the lineup...

Also, I remember someone giving me some crap for stating that I don't think Buehrle's gonna do all that great year based on his velocity decrease... so far, I am winning that arguement :P

That's part of it, but not my whole point. I think I may just drop it.

As far as the other responses that I got---where did my job at the radio station tie into this, and Tony, I don't drink, as I've mentioned in many other threads, and as far as Bob's comment goes, you can say what you want to me, it's okay. I'm not really wanting to get into an argument but if I'm destined to, then so be it.

I don't want to see Uribe out there for long. But I do think he's the best option on the current 25 man roster. I'm probably in the minority that thinks that here. And I don't want to place the blame on him for this game. He probably should've turned that DP, but it feels like we're taking the Steve Bartman route here. Nobody remembers the play that happened before it. (In the Sox case, Cabrera's missed grounder. In the Cubs case, Alex Gonzalez's missed DP ball.)

I'm probably over thinking this too. I haven't seen anyone knock him for the missed DP. I'm just assuming that's what people are pissed about when that doesn't seem to be the case.

Oh I'm not saying the game was Uribe's fault by any stretch, I'm just taking another opportunity to rip on him for sucking because he does in fact suck really, really bad.

I'm not upset at the missed DP at all... I'm upset that someone like Uribe gets AB's over someone who actually deserves them. Watching Uribe (and Owens for that matter) make ordinary people wonder why they aren't in the big leagues.

I was joking, calm down... of course I want Buehrle and the sox to do well. But I have a hard time seeing either happening over the course of the season.

(W)here did my job at the radio station tie into this [?]

I'm just saying that the media can't be closed-minded. Your statement of refusing to read his paper to mlb was very dismissive.

If you are wanting to be a serious media member (ie. on a radio station), you have to be more willing to listen to opposing points-of-view.

That's all.

Well Ryan Sweeney is batting .000 right now. Looks like he's a complete bust for the A's.
