Send Ehren Wassermann Down!

Featured Replies

He is contributing nothing to this team. Coming onto todays game he has given up 11 hits in 3 innings of work. That's not good for a "specialty" pitcher. Today's game speaks for itself.

That didn't take long.

I've been thinking it for 3 days, just havent had a chance to get on and post it.

I remember when he was the golden boy among many soxtalk posters here.. A very common quote about Wasserman was: "Why isn't he up here?"

It seemed like I was the only one in favor of keeping MacDougal on the big league roster. It might not have been pretty with him, but at least he has well above average stuff. However, MacDougal has been almost as bad at Charlotte as Wasserman has been with the White Sox.

Right now, if Contreras has to skip a start or two due to his back, Broadway would probably be called up with Wasserman going down. If Contreras is ready to go however, do not be surprised to see Russell called up to take Wasserman's spot.

I'm not saying it didn't need to be said. When he was pulled I was wondering how long it would take for the thread to be started. I kinda thought after the game.

He's just looked out of his league for the past week. He came in yesterday and got a big out...but I honestly have no confidence in him in crucial situations.

There has to be a better option.

Remember how people screamed when the Sox decided to bring Masset north from spring training and send Wasserman to Charlotte?

Based soley on stats, it was a questionable decision. However, Masset is a long-man/spot starter and Wasserman is more situational. They weren't really preventing each other from making the 25 man roster. Masset was also out of options if I remember correctly.

Wass also looked unstoppable in AAA, which goes to show that there is big difference once they make the jump.

I suppose Adam Russell would be the logical replacement.

Its time for Wassermann to go back to his apartment in Charlotte. I was never a big fan of his, but did feel he probably earned a spot on the team with a good spring training, but totally understood and supported the reasoning for choosing Masset. You just can't have high expections for guys who fall down when delivering the ball and get it there at about 87. I thought the Sox should give him the rest of this trip to show something, but now that they will be back in Chicago, its time for him to go. Who would have thought after last year, his career ERA would be 6.15 after 3.1 innings pitched this season? He actually got a hold today.

I agree... and I am not usually one to jump on our pitchers.

so this leads me to ask... why was he so beloved on our board here?

Rags to riches story?

Game Used Jerseys are cheap at the Sox Garage Sale?

Cool Name Spelling?

Or just a deep hatred of Mike MacDougal?

Bring Dewon Day up!

I posted at the end of the game thread that I felt Masset would have been ideal for the 7th inning.

I think Guillen is holding last year over Thorton, Masset and Anderson's head and is giving Wasserman a longer leash because of his work last year.

McDougal should be up as he actually has some semblance of stuff. Wasserman is a fluky guy that isn't working.

Also Dotel is being over worked.

Sox Win.

He did well last year and this year in ST and Charlotte. There's a reason we wanted him up. Something's off, though, and Charlotte is calling his name.

He really needs to be sent down, and possibly for good. I dont know if hes a major league pitcher. Hes got OK stuff and hes a guy that relies on a deceptive hercky jerky motion, a motion meant to fool you to get you out. Well to make a long story short its not as easy to "fool" major league hitters as it is minor league, enough said. Bye Bye Ehren. Go get me someone who throws strikes, has good stuff, and has proven he can get out Major League hitters consistently.
