If we somehow make the playoffs please tell me Jose will be a long reliever and not start a game.

Thank God Cedeno didn't hit one too. I would have been WAYYY pissed.

I love how Hawk was just trying to put it on the offense that they didn't "go for the jugular" by putting more than 8 runs up

how about gascan contreras doesn't just give up home run after home run

Come on Jose, make some good pitches and throw some strikes.

Why? He's been serviceable (to say the least) all year.

did he necessarily mean the offense though?

It's 8-2, relax.

I've seen the Cubs come back from huge deficits far too often this season to think it's in the books.

Serviceable doesn't cut it in the playoffs.

Official.

Yay.

Looking forward to an ovation for Swish this inning.

He was LIGHTS OUT until a couple of weeks ago.

I think it would depend on who's hot. Contreras could be hot come October and someone else cold.

In the context of how he originally brought the point up the previous half-inning, yes.

Tell ya what...next Cub home run...next dude up needs to get one right under the chin. I s*** you not.....I'm tired of this crap. This back-to-back stuff is bulls***.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 09:38 PM)
No one said it's in the books. However, it's the 5th inning, and Contreras gave up 2 runs.

Did you really think he was going to shut out the Cubs today? Especially with an 8 run lead? He is pitching to contact at this point. With a lineup like the Cubs, runs are going to happen at some point.

No no, you just wanted someone up in case the Cubs started a rampage like the 4th inning last week. That is all. Nice to see him rebound.

Agreed. He'll be in the same role El Duque was used in, in 2005.

What's Crede?....1 for last 21?!? Pathetic.

Swish really tearing it up now... I am loving it.

And still, he's lead AL third basemen in HR and RBI, which should get him a spot on the AS team.

Swish swinging a hot bat right now...

Even if he declines the offer, I believe it still counts as an AS appearance.

I'm not overly concerned with the two homeruns, the Cubs are an excellent offensive team and the Sox had a 8-0 lead. He unfortunately fell behind in the counts and instead of walking them he made them get hits and they did. Hopefully he's on a short leash in the 6th

He really screwed us in the cubs series, especially game 1.

You mean that aren't named ARod or Lowell?!? I'll believe that when I see it....
