Lou's > Giordano's

Seconded. Malnati's is far better than Giordano's, or any other pizza place around.

Anywhere for that matter. I dont think Lou's can be beat.

I've never had lou's, but I do like Giordano's. Haven't had it in about 4-5 yrs though. Gino's East has a corn meal in the crust that I am not a fan of.

I do like Carson's and of course if you want to spend a few bucks Gibson's is cool.

My parents just got back from Chicago Thursday and they loved the Field Museum. They bought a Chicago City Pass which gets you, for one price entrance to either the Sears Tower or John Hancock Center, plus the museums and other attractions. You can go to five different attractions for one price which they found easy.

I always liked to do a lot of walking just to explore. I agree with Heads about Chicago being the greatest city in the world, with one caveat. This only applies from April - October! Hell with cold, snowy winters.

Microwave pizza is better than Lou Malnati's dog food.

Winter is a big issue. If you think about it, there are only 4 months when the weather is actually nice in Chicago. It's still cold up until late May and think about how cold it was during the WS in October.

Lou's is a pretty solid pizza, though I've always been partial to Pizzeria Uno/Due (originals only, both on Wabash, the chains are AWFUL). They're pretty similar though considering that Lou Malnati was a manager at Pizzeria Due before starting the chain. Giordano's is decent, but not quite on the same level. I wouldn't have anything to do with Gino's personally.

Due's is ridiculously good too.

Eat a deep-dish place, whether it's Malnati's, Gino's, or Giordano's.

Eat a chicago hot dog (vienna beef)

See a Sox game and a Cubs game

Go to the top of Sears/Hancock

Walk Michigan Ave (great shopping if you like that)

Go on one of those sea-dog boat tours (40 mph and great view of the skyline, will get wet)

See the Tribune Tower and its pieces of famous buildings in it.

See an IMAX movie and visit the stained glass museum at Navy Pier.

Eat at a restaurant in Greek Town

Try and get tickets to Oprah or Springer.

See the Picasso at Daley Plaza.

Definitely go to the Art Institute.

See Buckingham Fountain at Grant Park, and the Bean at Millennium Park.

Go see a Second City show.

Go see a Broadway in Chicago show like Wicked.

Go to a Medieval Times dinner and show.

Go to a Noble Horse Theatre show.

Take advantage of drunk college girls on Lincoln Ave.

Go to Edwardo's for pizza.

Uno/Due>everywhere

Although Giordano's and Gino's are great as well. Never had Lou's.

The Giordano's on Randolph under the Prudential Plaza's is the place to eat for Chicago pizza.

Gotta be something close to the Loop / Downtown though because that's where I'm staying.

Don't limit your boundries to the loop would be my suggestion. You're in for a terribly boring time if you do that. Take the train to get wherever you need to get. It's cheap and nearly impossible to get lost on.

Is that all the way in the Southside (just had a look on Google Maps for kicks) and it came up with a place named Dolton?

I think he is drinking, because he probably meant Lincoln Park.

Giordano's has slipped now that it has locations everywhere, it's hit or miss. If you find one that's top notch though, it beats the pants off of anywhere else. IMO.

The one in Oak Brook is top notch.

Yeah, he must have meant Lincoln Park.

By far my favorite place to get crazy.

Which line and station would I need to get off at if I wanted to check out Lincoln Park FWIW?

Go to a blues club.

Ugh. Don't bother. There are so many other neighborhoods in the city where you'd have as good a time, or better, and for a lot cheaper. Go to Rush Street, or the Warehouse district, or Wicker Park, or any number of other cool areas of town.

But if you must see Lincoln Park and go stare at the trixies, take the red line to Fullerton, and walk east. You're there.

If you're going to go up to an observatory, do the Hancock before the Sears Tower. Although the observatory is slightly lower to the ground, it offers the better views IMHO, especially across the lake.

My boss actually told me about Rush Street, said it was a really good area for nightlife / bars etc. That's just a bit north of downtown Chicago isn't it?
