August 16, 200817 yr There is a small taco joint on 59th and Pulaski called 'Zacatacos'. It's a s***hole, but they have the best tacos around, period. I heard they opened a downtown location near Wabash and Madison. If the quality and price are like that of the original, then it is THE best dt spot. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

There are many s***tier taquerias (the locations, not necessarily the food) out there. There's another Zacatacos location too, although I can't recall where. Very good tacos. And I saw the sign for that downtown location too. I just doubt the prices will be the same.

I literally could make those tacos at home exactly the way they make them(I know this because I've done it several times before) for a way cheaper price. And I'll add cheese on mine because it's sooooooo much better with cheese.
August 16, 200817 yr In the south Loop the best place ever is Manny's Deli. It's on South Jefferson and literally the best corned beef there is. Always packed and always good. It's a rare cafeteria style restaurant. Reinsdorf frecuents there, as well as many other politcians and cops/firefighters. You get a real good mix of Chicagoans. August 17, 200817 yr I'll second Manny's Deli. I'm a fan of Heaven on Seven too. Delicious gumbo and jambalaya.

August 17, 200817 yr QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 09:31 PM) You put ketchup on your hot dogs too, don't you? Hell the f*** no! Grilled Onions and mustard.
August 17, 200817 yr Aurelio's Pizza off Canal and Harrison St. is a favorite location of mine due to its location (within a short distance of UIC), sparse crowd, and great pizza slices for relatively cheap. I'm not a fan of the hundreds of other locations, with admittingly better food, where the process of waiting for a meal becomes a half an hour affair.

August 18, 200817 yr QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 02:05 PM) Abe's deli on franklin and adams. Its decent, but expensive. Another fav of mine is Coca's soul food, also on Clark Street, just south of Mikes.

August 18, 200817 yr How about Chicken Planet on Jackson just off of State? Half a roasted chicken, bread, two sides + drink= $6.00 Edited August 18, 200817 yr by LosMediasBlancas
August 18, 200817 yr Author Ill trade someone a sweet lunch in the loop for a job interview with their companies.... god damn economy.

Half a roasted chicken, bread, two sides + drink= $6.00 You ruined my revelation. I was all jazzed to post about "the planet" and you stole my thunder. I got them to cater my son's 2nd birthday party and deliver it. I challenge anyone to make cheaper, healthier chicken w/sides from your own kitchen. Others of note: Courtway restaurant inside 29 S. LaSalle lobby (uust south of madison). Excellent fresh made rolls and the fastest sit down service around. Stocks and Blonds just under the Washington and Wells El stop. Menu is decent overall but on Friday the fish fry special is very notable. Place fills up fash, especially during lent. Jaffa Bagel inside Ogilvie Transportation Center - Great roast turkey sandwiches fresh off the carcass. Made to order but watch so they do not skimp on the toppings.

Glad to hear the Planet is alive and well. Anyone know a place called Haifa Cafe across from the Sears Tower on Adams? Great Mid Eastern food. Again, nice portions, great taste and decent value for downtown. Still around?
