I didn't realize he was that banged-up. That would explain why he didn't pinch-run for AJ in the 10th today.

If you bring up a minor league player for even one game before september 1 or any other player that said player becomes eligible for post season play? Hollywood, Wise, Richards or whoever KW calls up before Sept 1 can play in the post season?????????

No rush to get Crede back. Alexei played 3rd after Konerko pinch hit for Uribe today . He made a nice play ranging far to his left , picked the ball in front of Cabrera and fired a strike to first . Made it look routine.

I saw that play and you are right it was pretty nice. Makes you feel better knowing that Uribe and Ramirez can pl;ay 3 infield positions.

Injury is some kind of a muscle issue in his back or back shoulder of his throwing side I guess. Feling better finally according to Linebrink. He has been throwing off the mound for awhile now

Actually, I wouldnt mind doing the opposite. Bring up Owens now and Crede on Sept 1st. That takes advantage of the loophole in the playoff roster rule. Also, it gives us a legit PR and another OF which is important since Griffey is pinch run for or replaced in the field every time he plays.

I'll take Owens or Cook over Crede for sure (even though I hate Owens as a baseball player), at least they can give you a little something off the bench (whether it be PR or playing an OF spot) unlike Crede who would just be a waste of a roster spot right now. Let him continue his rehab for the next 6 days, he can rejoin the team when rosters expand.

Good thought. It gives us more roster options and agility to our team as it is formed now.

Crede would make sense for this reason IMO. He was there at the beginning and contributed to the Sox success. He is the regular and not a fill in like the others would be. They can join the team in Septembr and Crede deserves the call up as he is the regular and the roster player

Uribe was a regular at 2B to start the year and lost his starting job to Alexei because Ramirez proved to be the more valuable player, seems like history is repeating itself in this case.

 

There's really no justification for giving Crede his starting job back right now so he'd have to come off the bench and since he possesses none of the skills you look for in a bench player it would only make sense to leave him in Charlotte for the next week and instead recall a more versatile ballplayer such as Owens or Cook.

20. Meaning the deadline has already passed since he started on August 2nd. I believe all that is required to extend a rehab assignment is the player's written consent. If the rule were 30 days then his last day of rehab would have to be the 31st, which would workout perfectly.

To be fair, Crede is still superior defensively, but I agree that Uribe has brought more to the team lately than an injured Crede.

Yes he is. His glove has been good, even though he was errant with some throws. If he is healthy, Crede is much better at 3B than Juan. In fact we take alot of Joe's range for granted, one of the doubles down the line this weekend in particular went right by Juan, and Crede would have sucked it up easily. Juan just doesnt have the same range, instincts or reactions of a healthy Joe Crede.

That may be, but I don't want the team to have to deal with a grace period as Joe gets his ass in gear.
