September 20, 200817 yr I am not trying to jump the gun and ASSUME we are going to make the playoffs, but I got to thinking yesterday afternoon.... when was the last time the White Sox an Cubs were in the playoffs in the same year? I couldn't think of anytime in my lifetime (25 years), but I figured that had to be one year in the last 50. I was wrong. The last time the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs were in the playoffs in the same year was... 1906, the year they met in the World Series with the White Sox winning 4 games to 2.
September 20, 200817 yr I don't want to jump the gun either, but lets just say that I am not too happy that I had to move to Vegas this Summer. Chicago is about to get really, really crazy....
September 20, 200817 yr This will be an October like no other (assuming we get there of course). Edited September 20, 200817 yr by Jordan4life
September 20, 200817 yr Unless whitesox shape up this last week and hopefully get a boost from Quentins return for playoffs, we arent going to be playing in October very long anyways. Although, I hope we do play the Rays because we should have won a lot of the games that we lost vs them. Their ace usually can go only 5 innings and I think we can put some runs up vs Shields and the rest.
September 20, 200817 yr FWIW, there wasn't really a "playoffs" in 1906, since you just went straight to the World Series.

September 21, 200817 yr It sure would be awesome. Too bad the White Sox didn't realize that tonight they pretty much could have wrapped it up. Eventually these blown opportunities are going to show ... like when Minnesota's fans start cheering from the first pitch on in the Sox-Twinks series. This was a huge opportunity missed tonight. Both the Sox and Cubs in playoffs would be monumental.

Nothing will be wrapped up until that series in Minnesota is over, and maybe not even then.
September 21, 200817 yr My 10-year old daughter is awesome. She called Papa (my Dad), a Southside White Sox Hardcore if ever there was one, and started up a conservation about the Sox and Cubs possibly meeting in the WS. papa told her the last time that happened was 102 years ago. Without missing a beat, and giving me a wry smile, my kid asks Papa in a straight deadpan manner, what that 1906 series was like. :lolhitting I saw what she did there. :headbang
September 21, 200817 yr QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 04:01 PM) First time ever they will have both won a title in the same season. ?? 1906??
September 21, 200817 yr QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 10:08 AM) ?? 1906?? Pretty sure he meant divisional title, as there weren't divisions in 1906.
September 21, 200817 yr QUOTE (Felix @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 10:13 AM) Pretty sure he meant divisional title, as there weren't divisions in 1906. But there were league titles.
