The Official Cold/Flu Season Thread

Soooo...

I'm sick.

It seems to be a cold, but it won't go away.

I'm the third of four family members to get this, and the 4th is starting to show symptoms.

This is day four of noticable symptoms:

    Fever

    Sore Throat

    Aches and Pains

    Stuffy Nose

    Sneezing

    Runny Nose

    Nausea

    Dehydration

    Feeling like s***

It's been lurking around at least 6 days, and I'm taking OTC stuff.

Any suggestions?

Also, how have you been feeling?

Is this going on around you?

Iam being completely serious when I say this...drink a half a bottle of Jack and in the morning you will feel like s*** but it will be a hangover and not the bug you got.I believe alcohol can kill alot of viruses that we get.

The first step on the road to recovery is admitting you have a problem....

:lolhitting

a case of mountain dew should do the trick ;)

A hangover is just your brain getting dehydrated.

I'm already dehydrated.

Thanks, but no thanks, Mr. hospital worker. ;)

I had a wicked case of bronchitis a few weeks ago that changed into a sinus infection. Advil Sinus Headache was my best friend, it was the only thing that worked for me

HA!

I've actually been hoarding Mountain Dew Supernova right now.

They've eliminated it from shelves and I have the last 3 twelve packs.

I'm obviously going to the wrong doctor.

:P

I've been sick for the past several weeks. I got sick with a cold on halloween day, then that finally went away about 10 days ago, and then a couple days after I got better, I got the flu... so I haven't had the most fun the past month or so.

It seems like, illnesses that we used to get over in a few days, are now lingering on longer.

I wonder if they have mutated into more severe stuff.

Well, that explains a lot.

Thats why you have to mix it with Gatorade...mmmmmmmmm

And a hangover is your body going through withdrawls of the alcohol from what I understand, the dehydration is easier to deal with than the withdrawl.

Everytime I feel a cold coming on in the slightest, I take that stuff and it goes away. Love it.

Airborne= False Advertising

http://toppayingideas.com/blog/2008/03/04/airborne-lawsuit/

Are you using Airborne to cure or prevent common cold and for “other therapeutic benefits”? Well, if that’s the case, you’ll be interested in the result of the Airborne Lawsuit. It results in a $23 million settlement today.

Airborne had a class action lawsuit because of false allegations they made about the product. Why? There’s little solid proof that the product works! So what they are selling? A placebo, Airborne doesn’t have the scientific backup needed.

The company is going to recall the product, and the money is supposedly destined to all airborne consumers who spent cash in this garbage med.

“There’s no credible evidence that what’s in Airborne can prevent colds or protect you from a germy environment,” said CSPI Senior nutritionist, David Schardt. “Airborne is basically on overpriced, run-of-the-mill vitamin pill that’s been cleverly, but deceptively, marketed.”

Many people are enraged over this, in the end they just bough a bunch of vitamins. And well the company hasn’t much to say about this, a recorded message at Airborne says “Defendants deny any wrongdoing or illegal conduct, but have agreed to settle the litigation.”. At the end $23 million is nothing compared to the big earnings they have. Anyway, that’s a victory to consumers and a reminder that placebo can work pretty good on some people.

Have you bought Airborne? You can ask for refunds by writing to Airborne Class Action Settlement Administrator at PO Box 1897, Faribault, MN 55021-7152 or visit www.AirborneHealthSettlement.com

Its just a vitamin. You've been placebo-ed!

Yeah, they actually lost a lawsuit last year for false advertising. Although I believe the vitamins help a bit.

I take Zicam and it shortens the cold. Its basically just zinc I believe.

Caught the flu for a few days over a month ago. I drank juices and took some seasonal flu medicine, but Advil PM works the best. Take some of that and sleep through the days.

It's funny...this past week, a stuffy nose turned into a sinus infection, runny nose, and a bronchitis like cough, and that has since turned into chest congestion and a fever of 102.6.

If this keeps up tomorrow, I'm probably going to see a doctor.

Update:

I went and bought Advil Sinus on a recommendation. (They scanned my ID because you can make Meth with it. :o )

Also, I got one of these:

Magic.

Pure and simple Elfin Magic.

Inhale this twice in each nostril every two hours, no stuffy nose.

Awesome.

Ya, when I start feeling I cold I take Zicam. Its pretty much zinc which I believe is scientifically proven to shorten the cold.

I had the exact same thing happen to me about 2 weeks ago and just got over it like 2 days ago. It sucked, I was pretty sure I was dying.

This whole week I had a sore throat. Never got worse, never got better. I thought my tonsils were flaring up because I have chronically enlarged tonsils and they need to come out, but im too much for a punk to get them taken out. Anyway it finally got worse friday and I called the doc to prescribe me my medication. I wake up Saturday and my throat is completely cleared up. The thing is I didn't take any of the medication because of a pharmacy error. So looks like im saving them until I get sick which should be sometime this winter.

I have a humidifier that I leave running all night and that helps. Plus lots of orange juice. And my neti pot.

eeewwwww. . .

I'm a Cold-Eeze / zinc user. I don't know if it really works, I just know I haven't actually been sick in over 2 years since I started using the stuff.
