December 1, 200817 yr I didn't see this posted anywhere. Just some general information about the day. Hope they choose a decent name. It doesn't matter to me as long as I get some tickets for Christmas!

December 1, 200817 yr The new nickname, uniforms & colors will be announced on December 4th, along with a new website. From what I've read, the new nickname will be "Rhinos," & the new colors will be blue and white. The owner of the team use to own Blue Rhino before he sold it off to a bigger company to make his fortune. Apparently, the fan vote for a new nickname is a front. The choice was already decided on.

December 5, 200817 yr For those of you not familiar, Winston-Salem is commonly referred to as "the dash" (due to the dash b/t it's two words) by the people who live there. That's the reason they'll be called the Dash. Not saying I necessarily like the name, but I can understand why they named it that. Edited December 5, 200817 yr by dasox24

December 5, 200817 yr I'm sure that Dash sounded like a good idea to the wine and cheese crowd of committee members who selected it... But as sports teams go, IMO it's a stupid name. I think if you want to pick a good sports team name you should ask kids, not wine sipping elitists who probably won't attend the games anyway.
