February 23, 200917 yr QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 11:21 PM) I'm not debating if Hathaway was good in it, I just have never pictured her as being able to pull something like that off. Anne Hathaway is like a cross between Cindy Crawford and Eva Green...not a model like Cindy, not as good an actress as Eva Green. Sometimes she's really pretty, and I think she's a serious actress with some chops....then there are movies like Princess Diaries or Get Smart. She's had her moments, though, like Brokeback Mountain, Rachel Getting Married and Havoc. Bride Wars, not one of her best. Still, she should challenge Amy Adams and Isla Fisher for the cutesy Sandra Bullock/Kate Hudson/Meg Ryan type roles going forward. Has Sandra Bullock fallen off the face of the earth, btw?
February 23, 200917 yr Sean Penn just gave me one more reason to believe that he was given this Oscar because the character he played was gay, talking about the protesters outside.
February 23, 200917 yr I'm siding with Milkman on this. This ceremony was f***ing terrible. My girlfriend was required to see Milk for a school project and I went with her two nights back. It is bulls*** that Penn just won and that Brolin was even nominated. Rourke was robbed.
February 23, 200917 yr QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 10:37 PM) Sean Penn just gave me one more reason to believe that he was given this Oscar because the character he played was gay, talking about the protesters outside. Here is the winnah formula. A Gay Wrestler goes to India to fight against Nazi's set to a musical.
February 23, 200917 yr QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 11:38 PM) /wishing he could Perfect Plex this waste of time away. I want to take Penn's award and smash it up with a hammer. /obscure wrestling reference
February 23, 200917 yr I'm not an expert at all, but would I be out of line to say Sean Penn only beat Mickey Rourke because he played a gay character and a political statement wanted to be made?

It wouldn't be the first time the Academy felt it needed to make a political statement. You are very in line.
February 23, 200917 yr I didn't turn this only until about quarter to 10, how many awards has this slumdog millionaire movie won anyways? What is the record?
February 23, 200917 yr You know what the s***ty thing is about this...Danny Boyle is actually a great filmmaker, but this movie is totally undeserving of all the praise heaped on it.
February 23, 200917 yr QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 11:43 PM) I didn't turn this only until about quarter to 10, how many awards has this slumdog millionaire movie won anyways? What is the record? Record is 11 by Titanic, Ben Hur and LOTR: Return of the King. I think Slumdog won 8
February 23, 200917 yr QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 10:44 PM) Record is 11 by Titanic, Ben Hur and LOTR: Return of the King. I think Slumdog won 8 Lord of the Freaking Rings had an 11 Oscar winning movie? Wow.
February 23, 200917 yr QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 10:38 PM) Here is the winnah formula. A Gay Wrestler goes to India to fight against Nazi's set to a musical. Make the gay wrestler retarded and you'll sweep the Oscars.
February 23, 200917 yr I just did the research. Only 7 movies have won more Oscars than Slumdog Millionaire. Think about that.
February 23, 200917 yr QUOTE (daa84 @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 11:49 PM) says more about the quality of movies this year than anything else I'm not going to keep making the point that there were better movies this year, and they were snubbed.
February 23, 200917 yr The only way this could be worse, is if this was on TBS and had Frank Caliendo commercials every 5 minutes.
February 23, 200917 yr QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 10:47 PM) I just did the research. Only 7 movies have won more Oscars than Slumdog Millionaire. Think about that. So Slumdog Millionaire isn't the tied for 8th best movie ever made?
