So 3 hits in the first 5 innings tonight. Our offense has been absolutely pathetic in the early innings of games.

It's just too damn humid out there. Just wait until we get into a nice hot, dry climate this lineup will explode. Oh but not too hot or windy or cloudy, nobody likes clouds.

and not against a lefty.

or someone they've never seen before.

or a soft tosser.

otherwise, we're gold.

I do not understand why the Sox opted to pitch to Blalock intead of M. Byrd. in the 4th. He should had walked to first intentionally.

Exactly, so many damn excuses being made. They're just not generating enough offense in the first few innings, and by rule, it makes it harder to score as you get into the bullpen. The Sox have been much better against the opposition's bullpen this year compared to the past few years.

There's ANOTHER cell getting ready to blast through. This is where they will call it, probably. I think this game is over. It's pathetic to lose 9-1 in 5 innings.

Wouldn't have mattered. Contreras had NOTHING, and it was just a matter of time before Texas started to crush him. Contreras needs to be sent to the glue factory, and receive a 2005 WS DVD as a parting gift.

Two starts ago, to me it looked like his stuff was there (the one against Detroit). Tonight, he didn't have s***.

Coming into today:

vs Relief pitchers: .296/.361/.498/.859 in 275 PA, the team OPS is right around .700 against SP

First 4 innings: 37 runs in 88 innings = 0.42 runs per inning = 1.68 runs per game in the first 4 innings

Innings 5 - 8: 61 runs in 88 innings = 0.69 runs per inning = 2.76 runs per game in innings 5-8

The Sox have only scored 4 runs in the first inning this season, that's not good.

I love you Kalapse

It's more proof that Fields in the 2nd spot is not working!!

Just a terrible sports day so far: Sox lose, Bulls about to lose, Cubs win, Tigers win, Cardinals lose, and Twins about to win.

how long before they call this one? Midnight?

They need to just call it.

There is yet another cell that is going to go through in about 15 minutes. It's over. See ya'll tomorrow.

do any of the stats apply to the season?

Yes, because this is now an official game.

All

Weren't we up 6-1 in Texas in 2001 and they wasted no time calling the game? They owe us one.

Hawks are saving us.

Hawks up 5-2 late in the 3rd and the Royals just took the lead 8-7 in the 11th on a bases loaded walk. Oh and today's outing from Contreras will probably force KW's hand which is half good I suppose.

RA Dickey throwing nothing but fastballs. walks in the go ahead run.

The end of this hawks game is going to get ugly...

Is that an official game yet or not? I only watched part of it on WGN, till we got down 9-1 then switched to basketball.

It is if they call it one.

So, yeah....can we officially end the "Jose Contreras is still a MLB capable starting pitcher" experiment?
