The sox won. Don't you have anything positive to offer other than bashing negative posters?

Yes, I feel that through channeling their misery through something more constructive than agonizing over a sports team that will fail about 50% of the time, they may learn to lead happy lives.

Ramirez will be in CF. The guy was fabulous last year. Fabulous. You don't give up on that after a month of the season. That said, if the right offer came along, knowing Beckham is in the wings, I would trade Ramirez for a young starting pitcher in a heart beat.

So was Mike Caruso at one time....

just being the devil's advocate here nothing more than that.

I really, really hope they consider Alexei in CF. It would be a huge disaster to completely give up on him after one month, especially when he struggled last year at the beginning. I really thought he was putting together a nice week of games until the disasterous series in KC.

Huge, huge talent differential.

Anyone know CQ's BABIP?

He's hitting a lot of hard ones right at guys lately.

Something to consider with CQ is if all the HBP have gotten to him, as he seems to be pulling off the ball more now than ever. That's resulting in tons of grounders to the SS. He'll be fine though, he's the last person on this team I worry about.

To that end, hasn't Paulie been a breath of fresh air this year? He's really working that right center gap.

.280 last season.

.203 this season.

BABIP includes foul outs doesn't it? Then it's easy to calculate...hits/(ab's - k's)

That gives .275 by my reckoning.

Yep, and making it look so easy. It almost makes me think that things were too easy for Quentin/Alexei last year, and they both came into the year thinking they'd hit 40/30 homers respectively, and forgot about hitting the ball the other way.

Yeah I'm not worried yet. He is getting a little pull happy, but he's pretty unlucky right now too.

A home run is not a ball in play and a sac fly is a ball in play but does not count as an AB. So . . .

(H-HR)/(AB-SO-HR+SF)

(24-8)/(99-12-8+1)

16/80 = .200 BABIP

That injury clearly was a giant factor last season. He totally gave away the inside pitch which made him half a hitter.
