He was on ESPN 1000 and Linebrink specifically said that Peavy told him he doesn't care about the AL... now Peavy may just be BS'ing Linebrink, but I heard it too

I don't think this was all for show, but since the Sox have been really struggling it shows they are willing to pay the price in players and money to make things better. I don't think they will spend any money if Peavy doesn't happen and they will say it really was never there, but in no way does this hurt them in a PR sense if Peavy says no. It will turn some of the people who can't understand why they paid so much to watch Lillibridge lead off into thinking they are trying to get better, and this pitcher is too afraid to pitch for the White Sox.

Levine on first comment is (wait they have to play his annoying theme song) he's hearing the agent saying that Peavy isn't ready to make the decision right now, but it could change later on today or tomorrow and that Peavy to the Cell is one of his worst scenarios for his career

Levineline is a Cubs fan. Like pitching at Wrigley Field in the summer is healthy for an ERA. Levine also said when the Sox traded for Garcia, there was no way he would agree to an extension. White Sox starters, except for Danks, had lower ERAs, a lot lower, at home than on the road in 2008.

Levine has said the Cubs have "not a dime" in flexability until the deal is signed, sealed and delivered, so if Peavy is expecting the Cubs to make it happen, it can't for a little.

 

DeRosa is going to get moved

The best is that DeRosa is going to get the Indians a better return than he got the Cubs.

ESPN Tim Kurkian (sp?) says he thinks this trade will happen and someone else says it won't happen and someone else says maybe. I am all confused

I'm not saying that. In fact, I think this is all on the up and up. It does show the White Sox are not waving the white flag, something that is very important to this particular fan base.

Cubs didn't want to take on the entire contract and also give SD 4 young players and I don't see them reported to be back in any trade. ESPN also doesn't see it happening or that the Dodgers are all of sudden going to give SD prospects and take on Peavey's contract

It sounds to me like this will be a no-go. However, the agent coming out and saying he doesn't think Peavy will accept means nothing. The Sox need to pick up the option, if they do, its done.

It would be silly for the White Sox to bite if this is the case. Peavy loves California, and just built a new mansion there. He doesn't really want to leave and if he does he wants to go somewhere he really will feel comfortable. He probably has very little White Sox information. He's doing what anyone would do. This is a guy who received a NTC and the organization cannot afford him. He's not the one asking to be moved.

 

Isn't Barry Alexrod the guy that rep'd Sutcliffe? He probably wants Peavy in Cubbie blue so bad thinking he will be just like the Red Baron in popularity etc.

The thing is, he wants to stay in the midwest.

 

Imagine if Kansas City could pick up the salary.

 

Hopefully Milwaukee or St.Louis can get in on the action if the Sox don't.

He's anxious to find out as well. Talked to him last night...and he told him good things about Chicago. JP said he wanted to sleep on it and talk it over with his family.

Gut instincts, this deal goes down. The one thing the Sox lack in the org is a front of the rotation starter and I think Kenny cleared payroll specifically for getting that guy. Peavy is that guy and if its not Peavy than I'm sure he has a few other guys he's considering.
