John Weaver, close McCain confidant, "We've seen some nutty things from governors in the past few weeks, but this takes the top" or something like that. He basically called her nutty.

And this tells you why she's leaving. No matter what she does, she will be "nutty, stupid, an airhead, etc.". They have been smearing this woman from day one. Note: I don't like her, but they've smeared the s*** out of her at every step.

Shannyn Moore, progressive radio host in Alaska, is saying the "I'm taking a political beating from the Alaskan legislature" is complete BS. The legislature is in break and they've been fairly supportive and working together.

Says there has been a rumor circulating for the past 6 weeks that there was some possible criminal activity going on.

She's done: if not by choice, than by fate as the result of this choice. Her term was up in 2010, which left her two years to raise funds and campaign full-time for president, undistracted by her Alaskan duties. Fox News can spin this all they want, but America doesn't like quitters, and I don't see how she can effectively run for president with both that label and an "incomplete" on her political resume.

Truman famously said: "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen." I smell smoke.

"And one chooses how to react to circumstances. You can choose to engage in things that tear down, or build up. I choose to work very hard on a path for fruitfulness and productivity."

So, ripping on community organizers is building up?

She did nothing to disprove that she is nutty, stupid, an airhead, etc.

"Alaskans are dismayed yet not surprised that Governor Palin is abandoning her obligations to our great state. Sarah Palin's decision to step down as governor is a shock to Alaskans, coming at a time when leadership is needed secure a gas pipeline and address rising unemployment. Palin's lack of commitment to her sworn obligation to serve her term to the best of her ability is a betrayal to all Alaskans," said Patti Higgins, Chair of the Alaska Democratic Party.

She's probably tired of all this s***. No matter what you think of her, she actually seems like an honest politician, and I think she's realizing no matter what she does, she'll get smeared. I wouldn't be surprised if she disappears into obscurity for a while, just to get away from it all for a while. Plus, it's not just her that gets smearing, it's her whole family including her underage children. This is a move that would also protect them.

I bet for a while she'll be relatively unheard from, but in around 5 years, I wouldn't be surprised if she tried to make a comeback in politics.

For the latter, I SERIOUSLY don't see how resigning helps that AT ALL. The ® in the primary can just hold against her that she hadn't gone more than 2.5 years in to her run as governor, and likely won't last as Sen (2012).

Indeed. There is no chance in hell she is going to challenge Murkowski for the Senate. Murkowski is so popular in Alaska that Palin has a better shot at winning the 2012 GOP Pres. primary than winning a 2010 primary against an ultra-popular sitting Senator.

That's your opinion...

So far Obama hasn't done anything to disprove that he is the Devil, a socialist, a fascist, has no respect for the constitution, wants to takeover America, wants to completely undo what the founders did, etc..... but that's just my opinion.

Andrea Mitchell of NBC is reporting that sources have told her that Palin is out of politics forever.

Andrea Mitchell is a no good hack... I really don't care what she's reporting on now, but I felt like getting that out there.

On another angle, anyone consider the timing? 4th of July weekend? Kind of adds to the weirdness I suppose.

What she does the next few weeks will tell us if she just wants out, or if she is doing something to protect her political future, or if someone has seriously incriminating pictures.

It wouldn't surprise if her husband has been in some dirty business. Wasn't there some speculation about this before?

The funny thing is that if it is really the continued pressures of being one of the main targets of the national democrats, they just screwed themselves, because Palin winning the GOP nomination would have been the best possible thing to ever happen to them winning again in 2012.

This is true. Anyone thinking that Obama or the Dems wanted this, needs to think it through. They would have loved to run against Palin, who has zero appeal for independents outside of Alaska.

How long before she has her own show on Fox News, and will it be a weekday show or just a weekend gig?

Really, what was the point of this?

1.) It wasn't funny.

2.) Fox news is to the right, MSNBC and CNN are to the left.

Every time a democrat leaves office, I'm gonna say how long until they join MSNBC or CNN.

Oh, I forgot, Huckabee has his own show no one cares about on the weekends.... so every conservative politician who leaves office is gonna get a TV show on the weekends.

I found it funny.

Fine, but you now know this means war.

I found it funny.

And there's a lot of speculation that exactly this is going to happen, funny or not.

Maybe Michele Baughmann (or whatever the hell her name is) can join her. What a circus act that would be.

Just like a Republican.

I'm annoyed and your hands are oily. WAR!

(seriously, I have a small bit of hydraulic oil on my hands right now).

As south park clearly stated... if it wasn't for us pro-war people, America would be viewed as a bunch of pussies.

However, as south park also stated, if it wasn't for you anti-war people, America would be viewed as a bunch of mad, gun crazy assholes.

It actually is a perfect balance.

That's the most sensible post ever.

And what have you done to disprove that you aren't a socialist, fascist, homophobe? Proving that you aren't something is impossible.
