annnndd the tiggers and twinkies lost :headbang

Nice scramble for the win. I always hope the Sox win on my birthday, and they did. What a nice present.

Props to Ozzie for leaving Thornton in.

Nice spot-start by Torres. Not overwhelmingly awesome, but he kept us in the game. And big ups to Thornton for the two-inning save. :notworthy

The Rays announcers are such whiners. They wouldn't shut up about the missed 3rd strike call on Alexei, as if they were the only ones who've been getting screwed by poor calls this series.

Props to Ozzie for leaving Thornton in.

Happy Birthday Mike!

Was Hawk announcing for the Ray too?

Thanks to MLB.TV I missed the entire 9th inning. Can anyone tell me what happened with the Thornton/Longoria battle? Was that the final out?

Beckham, Alexei (thanks Upton/Diaz) Dye, Torres, Ozzie's managing. :) Great all around game.

Matt went 2-0 on Evan, grooved him a fastball and he popped it up weakly to LC.

First 2 pitches inside, then on 2-0, Longoria popped it up to short center and Pods made the catch.

Mr. Tony Parker popped out to Pods in shallow CF.

Yes! :gosox3:

Happy birthday, TheBigHurt.

Very solid start by Torres. And you just saw our eventual new closer tonight. Trade Jenks while you can still get a pretty good haul for him because we have his replacement already.

Yyyyyyyesssss

I'd also like to thank Maddon for pulling Shields. I'm going to miss tomorrow's game, and I think my blood pressure will thank me.

Great victory.

Wow on Matt Thornton. Nice job. Obviously Longoria coulda gone deep and made it a nightmarish loss. He didn't thanks to Matt.

ps. I love Pods and his contributions tonight and almost every night, but do you guys feel a lot less comfy with him out there in the ninth in vast centerfield?

I really think there is a need for a defensive cf specialist in baseball. And that's you know who in our ogranization. Maybe I'm wrong, but are you guys a little queasy with Pods out there, especially late in the game.

Happy Birthday Mike!

My name isn't Mike... but thanks!

That's a good point. I have no idea why Pods was out there in the 9th this evening. Unless Ozzie has completely lost his faith in his 'pen, and was thinking about the possibility of Wise batting third in the bottom of the inning.

Getz and Beckham had a big hand in that--they worked the count at the end.

great win, with a great AB by Beckham and Alexei to hit it hard.

Thorton with a great job too.

I wonder what's up with Dotel, either Ozzie has lost faith in him, he's hurt or the Sox have him involved in trade talks.

Not having BA anymore is going to make those 1 run leads in the 9th very scary.

But, in that case it really was a ball  :cheers
