July 30, 200916 yr http://soxblog.projo.com/2009/07/dodgers-now-fro.html Please shop Dye, Konerko and Alexei, Kenny. This is insane. First Alderson for Sanchez, now Yonder Alonso for Scott Rolen?!
July 30, 200916 yr Guys this isn't true. Come on, common sense tells us it isn't true. I know Alderson just went for Sanchez but Sanchez is a superior player at this point than Rolen. They play different positions and Rolen clearly has the better career but Sanchez has more good years left. And if teams are really giving up these type of prospects right now, well than lets sell Jermaine Dye for Yonder Alonso and pronto.
July 30, 200916 yr yep, I can't believe what I'm seeing. I doubt it would be Rolen for Yonder straight up.

July 30, 200916 yr No way it is Alonso for Rolen straight up. And if so I really really really think the Sox need to consider moving Dye, Thome, and maybe even Alexei.
July 30, 200916 yr If the reds are trading Alonso for Rolen, they better be getting another prospect in return, as well as more than half of Rolen's contract. This is absurd. I'd be all over a Dye for Alonso deal.
July 30, 200916 yr Author QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 12:40 PM) No way it is Alonso for Rolen straight up. And if so I really really really think the Sox need to consider moving Dye, Thome, and maybe even Alexei. Imagine what Konerko would bring in in that kind of market, or hell, if teams are getting this loose with prospects, offer Alexei to Boston for Lars and Bowden.
July 30, 200916 yr Author QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 12:48 PM) The Reds suck. Why would they want Rolen? To suck less. Neither the Cards nor the Cubs are exactly great teams. I guess they figure that they can contend. Edited July 30, 200916 yr by League
July 30, 200916 yr If it's Alonso - I'll laugh. Horrible deal for them and why wouldn't we have dumped Dye on them already - take fields too.
July 30, 200916 yr QUOTE (League @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 06:48 PM) Neither the Cards nor the Cubs are exactly great teams. I guess they figure that they can contend. I'll be stunned if Reds finish within 12 games of the Cards/Cubs this year. That team is done, and probably should shut down Cueto sometime soon.
July 30, 200916 yr Sounding like it isn't Alonso - which if that is the case. Go get him. Unless they want to dump Votto.
July 30, 200916 yr Reds Back Off Rolen Deal By Tim Dierkes [July 30 at 4:13pm CST] 4:13pm: ESPN's Peter Gammons says the Reds "backed off a potential deal" for Rolen. The Reds are actually hoping to move some contracts, and will listen on Bronson Arroyo, David Weathers, Aaron Harang, and Arthur Rhodes. Plus there's the issue of the Jays not wanting to trade Rolen if they keep Halladay.
July 30, 200916 yr Good to see the Reds realized just how profound of a mistake they were about to make
July 30, 200916 yr QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 12:42 PM) If we traded Lexi to Boston, first I'd try and get Buchholz. yes, i would also try and get Westmoreland
July 30, 200916 yr QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 06:35 PM) Either way, the Reds taking Alonso over Beckham = epic fail. Thanks guys! I'm sure there are more GM's who passed on Beckham who would trade their pick straight up for him right now. In fact, maybe all of them.
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 06:37 PM) I'm sure there are more GM's who passed on Beckham who would trade their pick straight up for him right now. In fact, maybe all of them. I'd think all of them except the Orioles (Matusz) and Giants (Posey).
July 31, 200916 yr Almost as ridiculous as the Kershaw for Lee 'proposed' deal. Never bought this crap for a second. Edited July 31, 200916 yr by Jordan4life
July 31, 200916 yr So when Rolen is out most of next year with and injury will JP lose his job for not selling high on him?
