Buehrle 0-3 since perfection

Featured Replies

Loved the perfect game, but getting into the playoffs is so much more important. We can't afford these terrible outings by Mark. 6 DPs and he's still getting shelled, by the Tribe no less.

He's been out of the game for an inning now, but I digress. With good defense behind him, he actually puts together a decent start.

Yup. Probably only 4 runs in 7 plus.

The Yankee game was bad, Pods screwed up that one inning in Minnesota not catching the ball, and our defense tonight is sh*t...again.

Clearly, it's time to dump him and hope someone claims his contract.

Buehrle don't seem like the same pitcher since the perfect game.

He's sucked his last few games. Hopefully he and John pick it up or we'll slowly fade away down the stretch.

Don't do it!

No Cy Young for Mark this year.

It's been a tough stretch but this is when the Sox need him the most which is down the stretch. I don't think he is still thinking about the perfect game but I guess you never know. If Buehrle continues to pitch this way then the chances of winning the division go down drastically. The Sox won't win many games when he is starting and the bullpen will be used much more than they are usually used to when he is starting.

We need "quality" starts from Mark every time out -- at least 6 innings and no more than 3 runs. With the Sox offense lately going for 5 or more per game, that should return Mark to a winning streak. Otherwise, the only guy in the rotation we can count on is Gavin Floyd, and that won't be enough to catch the Tigers. Ideally we need 3 guys to be "automatic" for a while, and Mark has to be one of them.

The defense has just murdered Mark in the last week.

He hasn't exactly been helping himself by leaving his pitches up in the zone either.

We should've traded him the day after the perfect game. Talk about peak value.

lmao

Lollapalooza has taken me over for a day straight. I taped the game but heard it was a loss.

How horrible was the fielding, how much was Buehrle's fault, etc?

the "problem" with Buerhle is the unrealistic expectations his fanboys have. And I like the guy, min'cha.

Buerhle is a very good #2, has never been a dominant elite-ace. Certainly not for 3 years (2006-2008) going into 2009.

Funny thing is, if he plays until he's 40, he may amass HOF-caliber win total. But that STILL would not change the fact that he is not a true ace.

Mark is a slightly-less-talented-but-slightly-more-effective Andy Pettitte. He's a really good pitcher with some serious stones, but he's prone to sucking at times as well.

I've never thought of Buehrle as an ACE. And I don't think KW does either, which is why he went after a #1 in Jake Peavy. Heck, given a little more consistency, I think both Floyd and Danks could be #1s over Buehrle. What Buehrle has is a tremendous rhythm on the mound, which enables him to work his pitches up down in out and keep hitters off balance.

I know this is early and off topic, but who do you give the opening day start next year? Peavy should be the selection of the #1, but I also feel like Mark Buehrle IS opening day baseball for the Sox.

Wasn't Contreras the Opening Day starter in both '06 and '07?

He's about to be 1-3.

Time for Victory #1, since the PG of course.

He's an ace.
