October 11, 200916 yr QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 06:58 PM) Thome's real rusty, I bet. Anyone interested in having him as part time DH/part time hitting coach next season? Part time hitting coach? Do you knwo something about his being a good hitting coach I don't? For the right price, sure I'll take him back as a DH, although I might shop around a bit for a better deal, with guys like Johnson, Delgado, etc., possibly on the market as well.
October 11, 200916 yr Author QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 10:00 PM) Part time hitting coach? Do you knwo something about his being a good hitting coach I don't? He can be part time DH and hitting coach. He has been working with Torre, & Mattingly on players' hitting techniques.
October 13, 200916 yr QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 06:58 PM) Thome's real rusty, I bet. Anyone interested in having him as part time DH/part time hitting coach next season? Why would I want a guy that strikes out a zillion times and has a very very unique swing to be a hitting coach?
October 13, 200916 yr QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 11:26 AM) Why would I want a guy that strikes out a zillion times and has a very very unique swing to be a hitting coach? Walker wasnt exactly a stranger to the K himself. And I wouldnt say Thome's swing is so unique, he has a classic lefty power stroke, compact through the zone and loves the low fastball
October 14, 200916 yr QUOTE (longshot7 @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 02:49 PM) Dodgers in 7. i hope so - i've got tix for that one
October 15, 200916 yr QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 14, 2009 -> 11:53 PM) They're going Kershaw, not Wolf? Kershaw is a hell of a lot better. Wolf had a career year.
October 15, 200916 yr Author QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 15, 2009 -> 01:58 AM) Kershaw is a hell of a lot better. Wolf had a career year. Yes. I am aware that Kershaw is better than Wolf. Up until today they were deciding between the two of them for game one.
October 15, 200916 yr QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Oct 15, 2009 -> 10:10 AM) It's interesting that Billingsley will be a relief pitcher for this series I like his last name. Sounds like an old British butler.
October 16, 200916 yr QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 15, 2009 -> 04:53 PM) I like his last name. Sounds like an old British butler. Billingsley ol' bloke,what on earth is taking so long to serve tea,hurry up chop chop...
October 16, 200916 yr Right now the ESPN.com headline on this series is "the Pen is Mightier". I couldn't help but think of this: Alex Trebek: Yeah, it was a trick question, Mr. Connery. Why don't you pick a category? Sean Connery: I've got to ask you about the Penis Mightier. Alex Trebek: What? No. No, no, that is The Pen is Mightier. Sean Connery: Gussy it up however you want, Trebek. What matters is does it work? Will it really mighty my penis, man? Alex Trebek: It's not a product, Mr. Connery. Sean Connery: Because I've ordered devices like that before - wasted a pretty penny, I don't mind telling you. And if The Penis Mightier works, I'll order a dozen. Alex Trebek: It's not a Penis Mightier, Mr. Connery. There's no such thing! Nicholas Cage: Wait, wait, wait.. are you selling Penis Mightiers? Alex Trebek: No! No, I'm not. Sean Connery: Well, you're sitting on a gold mine, Trebek!
October 16, 200916 yr Sean Connery SNL skits are the best... this is turning into a good game, we will see if Lidge comes out for the bottom of the ninth for the Phils...anyways, Broxton is a beast
October 16, 200916 yr and Brad Lidge is 3 for 3 in postseason saves...hope the Dodgers can stop giving up so many runs and take this series
October 16, 200916 yr Really, Pedro in game 2 for the Phitins'? I figured they'd throw out Lee, he's on normal rest. I guess putting him in game 3 lines him up to pitch game 7 also.
