What happens?

It says "connection failed" or facetime failed or something.

Anyone know when Droid X will be on display to play with at Verizon Stores? Launch date I assume?

What's the point of Disney and all their properties using go.com?

espn.go.com, abc.go.com, disney.go.com

It makes no sense to me.

right, I've read all that before. It says "Go.com proved to be an expensive failure for its parent company, as web users preferred to use search engines to access content directly, rather than start at a top-level corporate portal." If it's a complete failure, why still use it? THat's what i was trying to get at.

Sounds like they are basically using infrastructure they've already paid for, rather than pay for new domain names.

but if you type in ESPN.com, it redirects to ESPN.go.com. So, they already own that domain name. And moving databases shouldnt be too hard.

Perhaps there's enough people that still use the go.com portal that Disney is making money off of it.

I can't help but find this funny.

Although still early in the process, newly leaked documents about Windows 8 offer some keen insight into where Microsoft wants to head with the next version of the operating system.

One thing that is made abundantly clear is that Microsoft has been paying attention to Apple. In the documents, which appear to come from an April meeting with computer makers, Microsoft discusses its Cupertino, California-based rival and outlines plans to offer a Windows Store similar to the way Apple distributes software on its iPhone.

The documents, which Microsoft has declined to comment on or authenticate, also talk about plans to give Windows a more iPad-like response time through new power management settings.

In particular, one slide titled "How Apple Does It: A Virtuous Cycle," talks about the need for simplicity in design. "Apple brand is known for high quality, uncomplicated, 'it just works,'" the slide says, adding that "This is something people will pay for!"

Other slides don't directly reference Apple, but talk about the need for a number of features popularized by its products, including the App Store, as well as a more instant-on feel.

I don't think there is any question that this approach started with Windows 7.

Does anyone have any idea when the Blackberry Slider is going to come out? I have seen some pics and rumors had it possibly coming out in June on AT&T. Any new rumors or thoughts? I am going to be buying it if it ever comes out.

Sorry if it has been talked about, my search function wasn't working and I didn't want to scroll through 50+ pages.

Fixed that for you.

Hopefully all the people that buy this get AIDS.

BTW, Engadget's review of the Droid X is not as good as the EVO or iPhone 4.

Droid X: 7/10

EVO: 9/10

iPhone4: 9/10

IMO, there are only three good choices for a current phone (in no particular order)

Incredible (Android)

EVO (Android)

i4 (iOS4)

And of the EVO vs Incredible -- I'd pick the EVO. The Incredible uses a AMOLED display -- OLED in other words -- which is still an infant technology and inferior in every way that matters to current IPS LCD's. In another few years OLED screens will be the standard, and much brighter/better than they currently are (and usable outdoors), but until then, putting them in phone reeks of "look at us, stuffing the newest of the new technology in our device so we can brag about how cutting edge we are!". OLED displays are inferior at the moment, every one of them I've seen/used is inferior, not because the technology itself sucks, but because of how early in development it is. It *will* be better, it just isn't yet.

Other than the power issue, which I have been able to improve on with some tweaks an a stronger battery, I have so far LOVED my Android Incredible.

I'm hoping when OS 2.2 comes around for both of us that there will be some noticeable improvements on battery performance. The EVO had an over the air update this past week and it seems like my battery has improved but I could always use a little more juice.

I think they will.

Watching that battery usage monitor, after I took down some hogging processes (bluetooth I don't use, GPS I rarely us and can one-click it back on, G-Talk whatever the hell that is), the biggest hog on the battery is "cell standby". Its not the screen or running programs anymore, its when it has to search for a cell signal, like when I'm inside a bldg with bad signal. No way that needs to take up that much power, hell my BB was used in the same locations with the same wireless provider and lasted me 3 days at a time. I'd bet they will find some processing efficiencies there.
