February 26, 201016 yr http://crashburnalley.com/2010/02/25/why-a...de-makes-sense/ But does it make sense for the White Sox?
February 26, 201016 yr That article was horrible. Basically he wants to trade Howard...to keep Jason Werth? What? You don't trade your face of the franchise in the midst of your golden era.
February 26, 201016 yr QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 10:13 AM) http://crashburnalley.com/2010/02/25/why-a...de-makes-sense/ But does it make sense for the White Sox? I would hold out for Albert Pujols.
February 26, 201016 yr Author QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 10:24 AM) I would hold out for Albert Pujols. This is unrelated, because I know you're kidding, but just for s**** and grins I just looked up Pujols' stats again... Good God...
February 26, 201016 yr QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 11:24 AM) I would hold out for Albert Pujols. I was thinking Lou Gehrig.
February 26, 201016 yr QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 11:24 AM) I would hold out for Albert Pujols. I would hold out for Hanley Ramirez.
February 26, 201016 yr QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 10:42 AM) I would hold out for Hanley Ramirez. Didn't you hear, we are clearing cap space for Hanley, Albert and Howard.....oops, wrong sport.
February 26, 201016 yr He might be more attainable due to his contract but I still wouldn't bet on it.
February 26, 201016 yr QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 12:29 PM) He reminds me of Jim Thome in his prime. Too many Ks, low batting average. Jim Thome in his prime was a .295 hitter capable of topping .310 ('95-'02: .293/.426/.588/1.013 w/ 304 HR), he also struck out less often than Howard and drew many more walks, Howard is a poor man's Thome at everything except power. There's also no such thing as "too many K's" when your OPS is over 1.000.
February 26, 201016 yr QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 12:32 PM) Jim Thome in his prime was a .295 hitter capable of topping .310 ('95-'02: .293/.426/.588/1.013 w/ 304 HR), he also struck out less often than Howard and drew many more walks, Howard is a poor man's Thome at everything except power. There's also no such thing as "too many K's" when your OPS is over 1.000. Except Howard hasn't broken 1.000 in 3 years. Howard is a vastly overrated 1B IMO.
February 26, 201016 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 12:43 PM) Except Howard hasn't broken 1.000 in 3 years. Howard is a vastly overrated 1B IMO. I was referring to Thome, I couldn't care less about Ryan Howard. I do find it funny that 2 different Phillies have won the MVP award over the past 4 years and neither team did the award go to the team's best player of the past 5 years.
February 26, 201016 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 12:43 PM) Except Howard hasn't broken 1.000 in 3 years. Howard is a vastly overrated 1B IMO. He is a glorified Adam Dunn IMO. If Dunn had the guys hitting in front of him like Howard does, he would have more than the 100RBI he gets yearly, he would be a 120RBI guy I think.
February 26, 201016 yr He's still one of the best pure power hitters in the game, and an average/slightly below average 1B defensively. He is miles better than Dunn, and is paid accordingly. I'd still rather have Werth, though.
February 26, 201016 yr QUOTE (daggins @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 01:54 PM) He's still one of the best pure power hitters in the game, and an average/slightly below average 1B defensively. He is miles better than Dunn, and is paid accordingly. I'd still rather have Werth, though. How can you be "one of the best pure hitters in the game" when multiple times you've struck out more times in a single season than almost every other person to have ever played the game?
February 26, 201016 yr QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 01:06 PM) How can you be "one of the best pure hitters in the game" when multiple times you've struck out more times in a single season than almost every other person to have ever played the game? He said one of the best pure "power" hitters. There's no denying that.
February 26, 201016 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 02:25 PM) He said one of the best pure "power" hitters. There's no denying that. Heh, well i definitely misread that then.
