. But this year, I think I may go with Teahen. We'll see.

Sit behind firstbase. He'll probably throw you a ball.

Then there's a s***-ton of strange/creepy men at baseball games.

And not just at baseball games, once spring training starts, I see people wearing jerseys everywhere. I will say that I see more people wearing football jerseys once the NFL season starts.

Grown men wearing shirts with other grown men's names on them is strange/creepy/sorry.

When you get your driver's license you should have to turn in your jerseys.

That's a ridiculious notion. Getting older doesn't mean you have to stop rooting for individual players. If anything getting older, should reaffirm your beliefs as a fan. Feeling at all concerned that something like this is creepy, says a lot about the person holding that opinion.

Thanks Grandpa. See you at the early bird.

Grown men paying to watch other grown men play children's games is strange/creepy/sorry.

Grown men signing up for Internet message boards to discuss said games is strange/creepy/sorry.

When you get your driver's license you should never drive your car to a sporting event.

There are many things that others might see as strange/creepy/sorry. If you don't want to wear a player's jersey, fine. Others might. It doesn't mean they're any stranger/creepier/sorrier than anyone else.

Yes there is, and a large percentage of them (not all) share many of the same characteristics.

Fan is short for fanatic; So yes, because you consider yourself a crazy person, I suppose you are more than welcome to wear a shirt with your favorite grown man's name on the back; It has to be the least of your problems.

In college people actually called me Grandpa because I never went to after-ups. I tried my hardest to be in bed by 2:30 a.m., I felt it kept me out of many bad situations. How that relates to me thinking it is tacky to wear personalized jerseys as an adult; I am not sure. Halloween is one day a year for a reason.

I thought you could enjoy following, watching and discussing baseball without acting fanatical about players.

Anyone have a Beckham jersey yet??

I bought a Beckham shirt during the 13-inning Dodgers game. He then scored the winning run.

I almost bought a grey Beckham #15 Knights jersey they were selling when he got called up, but decided against it.

Sox or Pads? Side bar: how do people feel about wearing your favorite player's jersey to the game from when he was on another team? For instance, when we had Griffey, wearing his Reds jersey? Or a Phillies Thome jersey?

You've got to be careful on eBay. It's pretty easy to spot fakes. Often times, you get what you pay for.

How do we spot fakes in general? any tips?

How do we spot fakes in general? any tips?

There are a couple of things you can look for. The first thing is sizing, Majestic authentics run sizes as follows:

L-44

XL-48

XXL-52

The bootlegs run a size higher than that:

M-48

L-50 (There is no size 50 with genuine authentics)

XL-52

The other thing to look out for is the material, they appear to be more "Shiny" than the regular polyester that Majestic uses, anyone that has bought a bootleg outside of the ball park will know what I am talking about.

Another red flag is the MLB logo on the back of the jersey, the White Sox do not use a red, white and blue MLB logo on the back of their jerseys, it is silver, black and white.

And finally, check the letters on the back of the jersey. Fakes are spaced closer than authentics. Whenever in doubt, pull up a photo on the White Sox website or Grandstand, and compare it with what you are looking at on ebay.

Those are all pretty spot on. Another thing to look for is the size/thickness of the font used for the numbers and lettering. If you know the White Sox jerseys well enough, spotting fakes is easy. Often times the lettering will be extremely thick or much thinner than usual.

Another is the spacing of the numbers and letters, as Soxpride said. If they're unusually far apart or stacked right next to each other, its not authentic. Also, if the names are VERY curved around the numbers, it's probably a fake. This happens a lot with Pierzynski jerseys I see on eBay.

Another tell is the patches on the sleeves. The Sox use the diamond Sox logo on their left sleeve on the road greys and alternate blacks.

Lastly, pay attention to the trim around the names and letters. The White Sox jerseys have multi-colored trim. For instance, the alternate black jerseys have white letters with a black outline and a grey trim. The road grey jerseys are black with a white outline, and the home white jerseys have black letters/numbers with grey trim.

If all else fails, just give it the Google test.

Here's an example of a pretty good fake: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Mark-Buehrle-White...8#ht_500wt_1182

You'll notice the shinier fabric, especially on the sleeve patch. It's also a size 50, which doesn't exist. The numbering/letting is pretty damn good, but it's not authentic.

mark_buehrle_no_hitter.jpg

Notice the difference between the numbering on the right chest? The jersey on eBay has much thinner numbering.

The MLB tag is also off on the Ebay jersey. The silver should be on the right side of the batter and the black on the left. Another thing to look for on fakes, as you pointed out, is the Sox patch that is on the left sleeve of away and alternate jerseys. I have seen some pretty crappy fakes with the logo embroidered onto the sleeve.

He's a very good LB but is getting "white guy" fan attention.

I'd say that it has a lot less to do with the color of his skin than the position that he plays and the city where he plays it. The Bears literally invented the middle linebacker position and put two of them in the HOF. Being the captain of the defense also contributes to the extra attention. If Urlacher played strong safety, he'd be Gary Fencik.

Since there are only 19 total linebackers in Canton, my guess is that Urlacher will end up on the outside looking in. Especially considering that he much more-closely resembles Zach Thomas than Ray Lewis.

Wonder why Grandstand doesn't list Authentic player jerseys online. maybe they arent allowed?
