Your ultimate mobile electronic device

Featured Replies

Mobile devices have come a long way, but they are still lacking some pieces. Most people still have a seperate phone, music player, and PC/laptop, as well as possibly other mobile units like GPS, radio, game player, etc.

So describe here, what your ultimate all-in-one MOBILE device would be? The one you'd pay big money for, so that you could have it in just one place?

Here's mine. If this device existed, I'd pay serious money for it...

--Data phone capabilities like my Blackberry has (but a less clunky OS), the usual - cell, text, web, calendar/task sync, etc.

--Music playing software as good as (or better than) iPod

--Storage capacity similar to a large store iPod (80 GB or bigger)

--Ability to automatically sync data when connected to a home base computer

--A GPS unit that can be used for navigation away from roads - real nav software with USGS data for altitude, etc.

--A tough case - water and shock resistant, instead of these flimsy things currently out there

--AM/FM radio receiver

--2-way radio capabilities (not PTT, but self-powered point-to-point radio, like FRS or MGRS)

--Enough battery power to go a week without charging

There's my ideal product. All those things exist in seperate products, but not one.

How about yours?

I'd add to that dual 8mp cameras on either side with video abilities. I think the Sprint EVO will have dual cameras. One will be 10mp and the other 1.3.

It should dispense nacho cheese.

I'd also like to add a scanner for scanning upc codes for prices, ingredients, etc.

That would be cool. I would buy this.

This is already available on every iPhone/Android device...it's a simple 3rd party app. I use it all the time. :D

It's called RedLaser on the iPhone -- I think it was like 99cents, well worth it. There are other similar apps, I'm sure...and some may even be free.

Doesn't seem like something that fits in a pocket.

i'm anxious to see if that one pivot keyboard works well.

A kid in my dorm had a hologram keyboard that projected a keyboard image on his desk and he was just typing on the wood on his desk and it was showing up on his monitor.

This whole fit in your pocket computer thing is pretty badass imo. And yes I know the iPhone fits in your pocket lol.

Basically, without honestly being an apple fan boy. My dream device would be an iPhone with 80gb of space. An even faster processor. Quality camera on front and back. FLASH support (lolz). Wow i guess thats really it for me. My jailbroken iphone does everything and more for me. Ooo maybe netflix support too!

Basically all that, with improved speakers and a webcam. Netflix on my iPhone would be awesome.

It is an awesome time to be alive.

Demo of netflix streaming on a windows 7 phone. Gotta say it's quite impressive.

I like those ideas Matt, but I'd also like to be able to integrate my phone navigation directly into my car as opposed to needing two separate navigation (I don't actually have nav in my car, but I don't see the need for having two).

In addition, I should be able to listen to the radio via my cell phone, opt for satellite radio if I wanted, and be able to stream baseball and football games on my phone if I so choose.

All good ideas as well. When I win the lottery and start a mobile phone company, they will be added to the list when we produce the iPerfect.

Sounds like the EVO covers the highlighted.

I want a wireless toaster....that would be awesome to have toast at any time, any place.

The Creative Zii + phone capabilities is my perfect device.
