I hated to see Aliu gone, but it looks like Morin is a much better prospect. Reasoner seems to be a John Madden replacement. Can't argue with draft picks in the top two rounds.

Eager is just a guy, Sopel did block a ton of shots in the playoffs, but you can find someone else to do that for much cheaper. Buffs was a vital part of the Cup run, but somebody had to go, his value ia at its highest, and you can't guarantee he will consistently do what he did in the playoffs. It's funny to see all these peoples reactions on Facebook, mostly people who just started watching in the playoffs, who actually didn't see it coming. "OMG, I can't believe they traded Big Buffs, NOOO!!"

You can clearly see who is a bandwagon fan when they overreact to trading Buff. They probably started watching about the Van or SJ series.

Twitter too. It's ridiculous. As I said before, the more I read about Morin the more excited I get.

The belief is the Hawks are considering an offer a late first rounder and a prospect for Kris Versteeg.

To dump Versteeg would be jizz-worthy.

3 first and second rounders. That'd be awesome. I wonder if Tallon would want to move that 3rd overall for some more picks.

First rounder and a good prospect would be a pretty good value for the Hawks.

From what I am researching, the prospect we got in return may be a better player than Aliu who has fallen out of favor in the Hawks front office.

And since we have 4 picks in the first 2 rounds next year, I wonder if we try to trade up to get a stud, or if we are just collecting picks like the Pats.

Interesting. If this kid is the sniper they are talking about, he pretty easily replaces Versteeg.

Anyone who saw his regular seasons understands while he can be valuable, but he has big faults in the less physical part of the schedule

The predicament we're in now is why Dale Tallon was fired.

I love the move. Unfortunate but necessary. Sell High on Buff and keep the farm loaded with prospects ready to contribute (detroit model).

Can't say I was happy about this (me and a couple of buddies spent 5 silent minutes hearing it was Buff who is one of my favorite players on the team) but we knew he could have been an option. Hopefully the guys we got back are pretty good. I'll read more tonight though about prospect reports and all. Thanks for everything Big Buff.

Aliu was in the ECHL at the end of the year. He was done with the Hawks organization and may be done in general. He's a complete head case. I'm not worried.

Good to see nice value for Buff.

Its also why the Bowmans will keep this train rolling. Now when kids come in, they can learn from real stars, instead of being expected to lead the team themselves. It works.

FYI, NHL awards show just started on Versus. Of course a Snoop Dogg performance is opening the show.

f***ing dumbass fans, liking a player on the stanley cup team.

I don't really believe that versteeg trade. Sounds like a garbage rumor.

Quick off-stage interview with Kaner & Sharpie, #88 has his arm around a showgirl the whole time, says "She's my new friend". Ha, the kid is something else.

Too many good players and a Stanley Cup? Sorry, I'll take winning and cap problems over having cap space and going home losing any day of the week. Sure he may have overpaid for Huet, but Huet will be in Rockford, that isn't what is causing the problem. He overpaid for Campbell, but Campell helped them win. If they were to be a great team, they were going to have cap problems eventually no matter how you slice it.

I think Tallon was fired because McDonough didn't want to go unnoticed, personally.

Someone said ATL might be over the 50 player limit right now and has to shed a contract before the trade becomes official.

It was also under his watch that they failed to get qualifying offers out on time to several players, which cost them a few more million against the cap.

In the end, he was fired because they wanted the Bowmans in, since frankly they are better at the job.

Ironically, Stan Bowman was supposedly the guy who was responsible for missing the deadline, and I laugh at everyone blaming Tallon for the money woes. Didn't he have someone above him? I don't see anyone complaining about Hossa or his theft of Sharp or signing Niemi. Certainly he just didn't dole out a contract without someone's approval. Scotty Bowman is obviously a HOFer, but it has always angered me McDonough tried to make Tallon look almost like a buffoon. All I know is Tallon assembled a Stanley Cup winner. Not a lot of GMs can say that. Not a lot of fired GMs can say that the same year they were canned.

Classless move by Versus to cut him off so we could see crappy Goo Goo Dolls. Right in the middle of his f***ing speech.

I haven't been watching (watching CWS instead). That sucks for Keith though.

Duncan Keith! :headbang

Real_ESPNLeBrun Duncan Keith just told us in the media work room that he forgot to thank Brent Seabrook and felt bad for that
