July 6, 201015 yr Author Funny that the two best closers in the NL IMO, Bell and Wagner, aren't on the roster. Good for AL
July 6, 201015 yr Author 2010 Home Run Derby AL Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers Nick Swisher, New York Yankees David Ortiz, Boston Red Sox Vernon Wells, Toronto Blue Jays NL Corey Hart, Milwaukee Brewers Matt Holliday, St. Louis Cardinals Hanley Ramirez, Florida Marlins Chris Young, Arizona Diamnodbacks Edited July 10, 201015 yr by Brian
July 7, 201015 yr Author Just noticed Latos didn't make the NL squad. Rip off. He has had a better half then Carpenter and Lincecum, hasn't he?
July 11, 201015 yr I love how ESPN has decided to pretend that Omar Infante is deserving of an All-Star bid rather than the pick being the farce it is.
July 13, 201015 yr Needs more Quentin and less Swisher. I'm not sure I'd actually want him there, other than to see him go bonkers and still turn in an awkward interview after.
July 13, 201015 yr This HR derby is making me ill. Joe Morgan and Crhis Berman? Ugly. Further, its hilarious that these guys are RIVETED to the hitter when its Ortiz or Swisher, and then they bring in celebs and tell stories when anyone else is up. And WTF is up with Andy Petitte doing some feel-good commercial with his kids? Isn't this guy a documented roider? He's the guy you want as your example of some great character?
July 13, 201015 yr Author Bobby Valentine has been hilarious....ly bad. Jose Ortiz! He didn't get that one. Than the ball lands 10 rows up in right center.
July 13, 201015 yr I sat in left field bleachers during the home run derby in Baltimore. The woman next to my dad and I turned out to be John Rooney's wife. It was an absolute blast - Frank was a beast, hit one into the 3rd deck at Camden Yards!
July 13, 201015 yr I'm rooting for Hart. Edit: Well, never mind. Edited July 13, 201015 yr by Quinarvy
July 13, 201015 yr Author I still like the derby but it just takes so dang long. Skip the second round. Everyone hits, top 2 advance to finals with a clean slate.
July 13, 201015 yr QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 08:11 PM) I still like the derby but it just takes so dang long. Skip the second round. Everyone hits, top 2 advance to finals with a clean slate. I watched the first part of it cause I'm in a homerun derby pool. Once Cabrera was eliminated, I changed the station. I guess I just can't get into it.
July 13, 201015 yr Glad someone mentioned it earlier, and I mentioned it during April...but Bobby Valentine freaking sucks as a baseball analyst.
July 13, 201015 yr QUOTE (Real @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 10:31 PM) Has anybody seen a kong ASG jersey for sale anywhere? Link
July 13, 201015 yr I turned it off after the first round, because I was tired of watching the David Ortiz show. That was just an awful display of production of a baseball event. Awful announcers, ridiculous bias, and a focus on Ortiz that turned off everyone other than Red Sox fans. Seriously, when Cabrera and others were hitting, they even had to have an inset of Ortiz grinning while he watched the game. It kind of looked like... if ESPN is a buddy of yours, and he's had this huge crush on this female "friend" (Ortiz) forever, but continues to deny it. He (ESPN) throws a party under the pretenses of just having a party, invites the girl, and just sort of stares at her all night talking about her to anyone that will listen. Everyone there, including her, knows he has a crush - except he thinks its a secret. Kind of creepy and sad.
