July 9, 201015 yr in my opinion tigs have a brutal second half schedule (31 days in a row against over .500 teams, including Sox for seven, Rays for seven, @NYY, @BOS, LAA, TOR and TEX) and seem far more vulnerable, especially on the pitching side. twins by contrast have a relatively soft schedule with not many brutal stretches imagine going up to minny with a 4-5 game lead and the ability to knock them further out of the race...maybe they wouldn't be buyers for Lee.
July 9, 201015 yr They're good, and they know they're good. They'll be in the race for Lee, and if they don't get him, they'll get someone. Their starters are really letting them down right now and they have to upgrade. That being said I'd rather be in first going into the ASB but that is contingent on the Sox performance.
July 9, 201015 yr I can agree w/ the OP. I'll take a sweep of the Twins, as long as we sweep the Royals.
July 9, 201015 yr Kc is six games behind the Twins. You can be sure they are salivating at the chance to get in the hunt. Don't overlook this series. They are 7-3 in their last ten, coming off a road sweep in Seattle. Take care of our own business first, but I have to admit I do love seeing the Twins fall.
July 9, 201015 yr Let's just take 2 of 3 (or even sweep KC), and we'll pick up ground on somebody hopefully.
July 9, 201015 yr QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 06:56 AM) Let's just take 2 of 3 (or even sweep KC), and we'll pick up ground on somebody hopefully. Exactly. We have no idea who will have a better record in September, DET or MIN. Just win the games you can now, hope they beat up on each other and see how it plays out.

I'd bet my paycheck right now that the Twins will get Ted Lilly from the Cubs. Cliff Lee will go to the Yanks.

I guess we'll see what this kid is made of. The big thing about KC.............get to that bullpen ASAP! If their starters are on, they can be tough, and some of their hitters have had some success against our pitching. Put those 2 scenarios together and (regardeless of what their record shows) we can have our work cut out for us and a dogfight in some possible low scoring games. I guess we'll see!
July 9, 201015 yr Win the series against the Royals and worry about this stuff later. Personally, I'd like to see the Twins take 2 of 3.
July 9, 201015 yr A sweep and the Twins taking 2 of 3 would be cool since the Sox would be in 1st, but you can't worry about other teams. They've climbed back in the race, so all they can do is continue winning and wait for the rest of the league to sort itself out.
