August 5, 201015 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 12:14 AM) Not exactly. If a player is on the 40 man roster, he has to clear waivers in order to be traded, so Washington would be even more limited in who they could get back from the Sox. Which means...no Viciedo, no Jackson.
August 5, 201015 yr QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 03:25 PM) He's been claimed by an unknown team. I'd love if it was Kenny just to **** with Rizzo.
August 5, 201015 yr QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 04:25 PM) He's been claimed by an unknown team. Never believed the report that he got through.
August 5, 201015 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) Rizzo would immediately pull him back. He still has 2 days to try to work out a trade with the claiming team.
August 5, 201015 yr Can a player be placed through waivers twice? Like can the Nats pull Dunn off waivers, and then run him through again? Edited August 5, 201015 yr by JoeCoolMan24

August 5, 201015 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 04:53 PM) No they cannot. I believe you can put him on irrevocable waivers the 2nd time though.
August 5, 201015 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) I believe you can put him on irrevocable waivers the 2nd time though. Well I don't think Rizzo would want to do that. At the least, he gets two picks for Dunn.

Nope, once they are claimed and pulled back, that is it for the revocable status. Also once someone clears, they can be traded for the rest of the trading period.
August 5, 201015 yr A player can be put on waivers for the 2nd time, but if he is claimed, he can NOT be pulled back. Heard Ken Rosenthal on MLB Tonight (Tonight). Edited August 5, 201015 yr by AWhiteSoxinNJ
August 6, 201015 yr QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 06:34 PM) A player can be put on waivers for the 2nd time, but if he is claimed, he can NOT be pulled back. Heard Ken Rosenthal on MLB Tonight (Tonight). So then a player is just given to a team, right? Since the team who placed him on waivers has NO leverage in the deal at all, he is just given to the team then yes? Unless the team receiving him wants to throw the other team a crappy prospect just in good faith, right?

If the waivers aren't irrevocable, the player can be pulled back if if the waiving team wants to pull them back. If they are irrevocable, the player can be had by whatever team has first priority.

August 7, 201015 yr QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 07:34 PM) A player can be put on waivers for the 2nd time, but if he is claimed, he can NOT be pulled back. Heard Ken Rosenthal on MLB Tonight (Tonight). There are 2 types of waivers: revocable and irrevocable. In August you normally think about revocable and these can only be used once. If pulled back then he can be placed on irrevocable waivers. So if claimed, he cannot be pulled back.
August 8, 201015 yr QUOTE (That funky motion @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 09:07 PM) David Kaplan tweets that the Dodgers got the waiver claim on Dunn. Block on the Giants? They don't really have the space for him, do they?

August 8, 201015 yr QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Aug 7, 2010 -> 11:13 PM) Block on the Giants? They don't really have the space for him, do they? They know they won't give Dunn away now, so it was an easy block.
