Every so often, including against us, he'll pull out some mystically dancing offspeed stuff, but he only does it like 2 times per year.

Keep in mind that Coop is probably working a very specific plan with Jackson.

 

Starting out throwing only 2 pitches... telling him "don't worry about whether guys get hits, we don't care... just throw strikes".

 

It's very similar to what they did with Thornton at first.

 

They want to establish his ability to throw strikes... period. And then build on that.

I really hope that's what they're doing with Jackson. If it is, then Jackson can be a BEAST!

It really would be enjoyable seeing this offense with Castro and Viciedo getting more playing time.

Jackson is at a low enough pitch count to be able to give us another couple of innings, provided of course that he's effective.

Tampa's had two leadoff doubles, but they couldn't get the runner home. Baker has these really low hit games a few times every year.
